Since installing GBPVR, my computer starts itself up randomly and then goes back into hibernation.

It has only done this since the installation.

I have no scheduled recording that would invoke the start up, and I have the EPG time set at 19:00 for daily download.

I have disabled the Wake on LAN for my network card within the BIOS, and there is no wake up feature for USB there to modify.

Any ideas what may be the culprit?

Have you checked in Power Properties in the Control Panel to see if there is a timer set for Hibernate?

Yes, that was my first port of call. I have not got any power management activated, except for the hibernation feature. This was already set up prior to the instal, so should not be the cause of the problem.

Is the GBPVR designed to work with hibernation or just standby?

I suppose it would be worth while disabling Hibernation from the power settings to see if there is a conflict going on.

thoughts please...

Its not design to work with either specifically. It just requests Windows to be awake at a specific time. Behind the scenes Windows will try to do this with either hibernation or standby, but it seems some motherboards dont always handle both of these.

It only schedules a wake up for the time a recording is due to start, and for the time the EPG update is due. This has generally worked well, and hasnt been changed in nearly two years.

But if you schedule a recording, and then cancel it, is the request for Windows to wake the computer also canceled?

No its not. Its a long standing short coming (ever since the GB-PVR project started). I've got it on my list of things to do, but its not a very high on the priority list.

Could that be what you are experiencing, forums_v?

No.

I got up this morning and my machine was on. No recordings were scheduled or cancelled after being scheduled.

I will try various scenarios over the weekend when I have more time to see if I can help identify what is the trigger.

I assume the computer goes back to sleep ok after the download? And you don't have anything in windows scheduler that could wake up the computer during the night?

Do you also turn off the "Wake On Alarm" from the BIOS?
