Hi,

I'm wanting to use GBPVR with Gabest's MPEG2 decoders. Lately I've been using Media Player Classic which has these decoders built in and I'm finding the quality of the video to be better than any of the other decoders I've used. Anyway, I've registered the .ax files, but they don't appear as options in the decoder drop down lists in GBPVR config. Is there something extra that I need to do to get GBPVR to use them? Windows Media player is using them to playblack MPEG2 files so I know that the decoders are installed properly.

Thanks
Andy

You may find they get used if you set GB-PVR to use the 'System default' decoders, otherwise you'll need to add them to the video decoder list in config.xml.

Thanks Sub, I'll try editing the config.xml file.

the name to add is "MPV Decoder Filter"
works for me...Smile
very nicely in fact...extremely low cpu and very stable...
Sub, might wanna include this one eventually..
[opensource and stable and easy on system cpu]
just a thought...

Ok, I'll add it to the master list.

Available here http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles...p_id=82303 for those who want to give it a try.

When using these filters in Media Player Classic to playback MPEG2 files recorded by GBPVR I find that I get no tearing which I get quite a lot of with other decoders.

Which download in that group is the appropriate decoder? (I'm always game to try a better MPEG2 decoder for my GBPVR rig, as for now I'm stuck with Overlay Manager to avoid the jittery video.)

well, they don't offer hardware acceleration for de-interlacing so quality isn't same as for Nvidia or cyberlink decoders...it can do bob/etc. but at a high performance penalty..
shows a little 'ghosting' effect on mine, but otherwise good for general playing...

i wish someone would put out a 'just accelerated deinterlacing' filter..Smile
like the old dscaler one...but with hardware support...would solve a lot of problems and isolate the rest..Big Grin
seems almost everyone has the cpu power to decode the video, it's the deinterlacing where the performace penalty comes in...
that way we could use any decoder for compliancy, and not suffer the deinterlacer's slowdown...
i'll see what i can find out there...
altho Alparysoft has one, it's kinda weird...and $$$
[but works a charm]

oh and it's the MPV decoder on that web page...

Do you also need the "mpadecfilter" from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles..._id=400406
for audio?

If so, do you add ",MPA Decoder Filter" to the end of the "<SupportedAudioDecoders>" line in config.xml?

Is that the actual name? If so, then I'll add it to.
