I cannot seem to playback any of my recordings in GB-PVR. The live tv and timed recording function worked successfully and created the recording in my expected location, I tested the mpg and it plays fine in Windows Media Player.

When I go to the Recordings menu and select a recording and chose Play, the video stutters for a bit, doesn't play any sound, then after a few seconds freezes the app - this happens almost always at the same spot (00:00:46). I can Alt-Enter and the app will window but won't shut down. I kill via Task Mgr and CPU for GBPVR.exe is always at about 50%. Note that if I click any buttons during the video (FF/RW) the app freezes at that spot and will no longer support Alt-Enter.

I have tried with multiple recordings and have rebooted. Playing recordings in the My Videos section seems to work fine.

Logs attached.

Quote:09:35:59.250 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - Default DirectSound Device
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - MPEG Audio Decoder
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - GB-PVR Flow Status
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - MPEG-I Stream Splitter
09:35:59.250 VERBOSE - C:\MyVideos\Entry Small.mpg
Are these MPEG-1 files? If it is MPEG-1, then try MPEG-2 instead.

I've never seen that splitter in use in any other logs.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't know if they're MPEG-1. How would I have gotten MPEG-1? I recorded these with GB-PVR's Record timed function. That's what's odd - GB-PVR will play mpgs that were created in a different app but won't play mpgs which were created by itself.

Do I have something set up in Config that would have caused these to be recorded in a format that wasn't able to playback?

You could use something like AVIcodec to check what type of file it is http://avicodec.duby.info/

If it is an MPEG-2 file, then your machine might be missing the 'Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer' filter that would normally be used. I'm not sure why though.

Details:

Video : 1.13 GB, 5250 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported

Audio : 49 MB, 224 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

I believe I have a full latest ver of DirectShow installed.

Fixed. So in Config I changed the Audio Renderer to explicitly use DirectSound and that solved the problem. I had originally set it to 'System Default'. Changed it to - DirectSound: Creative SB Live! ...

Thanks for the help.
