I have a Hauppauge 350 and when I click on FM Radio it says 'Failed to communicate with the GBPVR recording service. This service is possibly not running...'. FM Radio works if I use the radio program hauppauge supplied and GBPVR can record TV programs so I presume the recording service IS running. Any idea what's causing this error??

Do you have the lame encoder installed as mentioned in the change.log file?

How do you reinstall lame? I have downloaded the programs from the link, run the exe file, and registered it (using the reg.bat), but it still does not work. I am not a programmer and do not know too much about how these things work, but I am an avid user of GBPVR and would love to get my FM radio working.

Can anyone help me with some guidance?

thanks,
Mikkel

Mikkel, try to use the FM radio again, then email the logs to me at support@devnz.com and I'll diagnose.

Hi all, sub just fixed my problem and asked me to post a resolution to the problem.

What to do if you get an error message (like: 1."Failed to communicate with the GB-PVR recording service", or 2 "No tuner was available to enable you to
record the requested station&quotWink when trying to access FM Radio?

1. Check that you have set the capture source to the correct card. If you have a 350 card, but set the capture card type to 250, you will get the second error message. (Open config, capture sources, recording sources settings)

2. Make sure you download and install the lame MP3 encoder filter (Added FM Radio support - requires capture card that supports it (such PVR350/PVR USB2/PV258TF) and LAME MP3 encoder filter to be installed. You can get this free from http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/directsho...show.zip.)
Download LAME from the link posted here and unzipp it in the devnz/gbpvr folder and run the reg.bat file

Hope this will help others with similar problems,

best regards,
Mikkel (who now listens to his new radio!Wink

I'm also having problems with FM radio. I've installed lame per the instructions in the changes file but I get the 'No tuner found...' error message. I have an HP Media Center PC (m380n). The TV/capture card is made by Asus and I think it's special made for HP. It uses the Conexant Blackbird chip. The tuner shows in the Device Manager as 'Conexant 2388x Tuner (Philips 1236 MK3)'. Radio works OK in Media Center.

Is that tuner not supported or is it just a configuration issue?

It's not a huge deal...everything else works just fine. If it's a config error I'd like to get it working but I'm happy with the package without it.

FWIW, I've tried several PVR packages and IMO GB-PVR is the best. And that includes Microsoft Media Center that came with my PC.

GB-PVR looks in the direct.ini file to see if your capture source has an FM capable tuner.

Take a look in direct.ini at the section that matches your card name. Then add a line that says: SUPPORTS_FM_RADIO=1

I've never tried the FM radio on a blackbird card, so let us know how you get on.

I added the line to the direct.ini file in the [Conexant BlackBird] section and restarted the recorder service. When I access the FM radio and select a pre-set, it responds with:

Error: Object refernce not set to an instance of an object.

The relevant (I think) hunk of log file:

Removing the line and restartiing puts it all back to normal (Live TV OK, no tuner found in FM).

Like I said, not urgent on my part...mostly just FYI...
