Please refer to the problem stated in this post:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=19082#2

I used to have this working fine in my previously installed version (v96.12) of GBPVR. Any ideas?

Did you use a mapped drive or a UNC path?

I am using mapped drives.

As requested by you (in the thread in the plugin forum), I have reproduced the problem. I am attaching the ZIP of the log file. Below is what I believe is the pertinent snippet of the log:

sub .. there seems to be an issue with posting ZIP files as attachments to the forum. I created the ZIP in the normal way (and also did not store path's in the zip) and the did an upload of the file (directly from the root of C:\). The file uploads fine, but then when I download it from the thread it seems to have it named in your attachment repository as "gbpvr[1].exe.log.txt.zip" and the resulting file cannot be opened by WinZIP.

I tried this a few times, also using WinRAR, but the result was the same. BTW, I can extract the contents of the ZIP file (downloaded from the thread) with WinRAR, but the extract file ends up being an unreadable binary.

Am I doing something wrong? The ZIP file that I create is fine on my PC.

sub ... when I use a UNC path there is no issue ... so I'll re-enter the paths to my music, photos and videos and we'll call it good .. unless, of course, you want to enhance gbpvr to allow this to also work with mapped drives :-)

Thanks.

You cant use mapped drives from a service, so this is pretty much what I'd expect. So everything sounds fine to me.

I'm not that technical and maybe I'm not understanding correctly but I use mapped drives with my MVP.

Computer 1 runs GBPVR but all my music is stored on Computer 2.
The Music drive on Computer 2 is mapped as Drive S: on Computer 1.
In Configuration I specify the Music Library Directory as S:\.
I would add that to get the MVP to see this drive I do give GBPVR Recording Service its own user name and password with Administrators access. This is on computers running Windows 2000.
OS: Windows XP SP2
Processor: CeleronD 2.66GHz
2x WINTV Nova-T
GBPVR v1.3.11
MVP D3a
Dongle Default

Ok maybe with changing the user account, but my offical line hasnt changed - as I've said a ton of times in the past, use UNC paths if you need to access the network shares from the MVP.

I understand your frustration in answering the same issues over and over again. But, I'm no slouch .. I do my research BEFORE entering a post.

In some cases, the fact that there is so much content on the forums is both a blessing and a curse. The search engine is not the greatest in its advanced search capabilities, so it is real tough to have content that is returned narrowed down to something that even resembles the symptoms on which one is searching.

So when you do a search and you spend an hour looking at threads that have nothing to do with your problem it is at this point that it is probably reasonable for one to post the question.

However, in this case I was able to retrieve several threads which all supported my recollection that mapped drives DID used to work when the recording service was set to start using a privileged account .. in fact, I had discovered this myself back in Mar (under v96.12) and reported my finding at that time.

Here are a few of the articles that support this:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ork+drives
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ork+shares
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ork+drives

But ... in the current rev (97.13) I can no longer get this to work. No biggie, though, as the UNC paths do work.

A friendly word of advise ... for those questions that you seem to just keep getting, it might be helpful to include these in a Tips and FAQ's document on the wiki.

Thank you so much for your time and effort and the great coding you do and the phenomenal support you render. GBPVR is a little slice of heaven on earth ... you are definitely appreciated.
