I have been trying all kind of things but I can't get the Livetv working ok on the client. It's stuttering heavily. Strange thing is networktraffic keeps rather low. When I playback a recording (which works fine) traffic is ~50% higher.
So I thought lets try the following: I start recording a show and then right away start watching through recordings-planned-etc. Same stuttering.
I raised the cache setting, tried several videoencoders, nothing matters. It seems it just can handle the writing to and reading from the same file, at the same time.
Anybody?

Live TV works pretty well for me from my client machine, and feedback I've received from others so far has also been good.

You've probably said already elsewhere, but I cant remember... Are you using a wired or wireless network? Are you using the file sharing or streaming method?

I use a wireless network, but as I said what puzzels me is that it only uses low network resources ~8%. When playing back a recording it uses ~12%, no problem. It doesn't matter if I use filesharing or streaming.

It'd be interesting to see if you string a big long network cable through the house to temporarily, whether it comes right? This would at least tell you whether its the wireless factor or not.

I dont personally use any wireless stuff, so its not something I test for.

One more question (I already asked more or less):
Is there a difference in playing back a recording in progress and playing back a recording (a finished one) while another recording is being made?

Yes I might try that in a few days (when I am free). It's not to big a hassle.
but I prefer to do those things when I'm home aloneWink

Yes there is, it needs to check the updated duration of the file once every two seconds. This involves read a chunk of data from the end of the MPEG2 file to locate the headers that contain the timing information.

Ah....that could be it. We'll see later, thanks a lot.

I think you must/should be very pleased with this version. Looking at the number of posts, there seem to be less of them compared to previous releases. (well in my memory(51 yrs) that isSmile )

Yes, I think it is a very good release. I am pleased.

Unfortunately we had to go through a lot of pain with the v0.97 releases. The move to .net 2.0 and SQLite was really significant. This release's changes were less radical, and included a lot of fixes to bugs from pervious releases - including a couple of really needed fixes to long standing bugs.

The only really significant issue has been identified so far, was the bug that was not releasing a tuner after exiting live tv, but I provided a patch for that, and also updated the main installer to include the patch. Fingers crossed that no major new issues pop up...

If you're using analog card (PVR150 etc), did you try reducing the bitrate for live tv on your server? This may help you over wireless.
