I just upgraded to 98.8 and when I went to turn on the MVP I noticed a few things.

#1) The Power button on the remote doesn't work, can't turn the darn thing off without unplugging it. Other buttons seem to work ok.

#2) The start up gets caught in a loop of "Your MVP is unable to detect your previously saved server on the network" and then displays Media MVP Preferred Server screen. It searches and then finds my pc and IP address. When I select 'ok' it starts to save settings then tries to detect all over again.

Any ideas?

Are you using the dongle.bin included with the new release and have you unplugged/plugged back in the power to get it to load the new dongle?

The dongle.bin titled 'dongle.bin', yes. And yes, unplugged, replugged, restarted MVP service, etc.

Still stuck in the "unable to detect your previously saved server on the network" loop. I tried changing the number of servers to start in Config, 0 and then 1 without luck. Not sure if it is significant but I've got only one MVP, Model 86001 REV D3A Lot 4303. Anyone have any ideas?????

In this thread (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=19511) Beaky stated he was able to get it to work by going back to dongle from 97.13. I'd be willing to try that if someone can tell me where to get it.

I found an old dongle from my 96.12 version backup, it is dated 3-22-2005. I replaced the one from version 98.8 and I am now able to load the MVP app. What is the harm in running this dongle?

Hauppauge had indicated this new dongle should work on all models of MVP, but I guess they were wrong.

I have two Model 86001 REV D3A Lot 4303 MVP's and they are both working fine with the dongle supplied with 98.8. This is on a wired network with Linksys router.

My E1 MVP had problems finding the server on the network with the 98.08 dongle. I run my MVP via crossover cable from a dedicated NIC and at some stage I changed the speed to 100Mbit half duplex, changing it back to auto got the 98.08 dongle working.

I had stuttering video after the 98.08 upgrade. Power resets did not help.
Model 86001, REV D1, Lot 3603.
I had sent the unit back for factory service so the label may not reflect the internal hardware.
The 97.13 dongle dated 3/22/2005 works like a champ.

I got it at the old download link:
