Changing BDA mux - service restart needed?

If I edit the <BDAMultiplexer> entry in my config.xml do I need to restart the recording service or is this setting read each time a recording is about to start?

Yes, it needs to be restarted.

Thanks. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of my BBC3 problems - I think it might be the mux so want to run a couple of recordings and change the mux in between them.
