Unfortunately I am still having problems playing WMA files through my MVP (rev H3). Using GBPVR 98.8. With the last version of GBPVR the transcoding service crashed on the server - now nothing happens. It is as if I had not pressed play. I have checked and MP3's play fine as do WMA via GBPVR on the PC. Unfortunately I have very few details to provide as there are no log files being created (set to Debug logs). Any ideas?

Latest version is much better with MVP - AVI now work reliably and no crashes so far. Well done Sub.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exe.log and I'll ake a look.

Thanks for quick response (please ignore my daft comment about no logs). Unfortunately system won't let me upload logs - never progresses from 'sending request to forums.gbpvt.com'. I have extracted some of the key text from the logs which hopefully are of use.

I'm guessing its something to do with the UNC paths you're using.

When you try to play a WMA file on the MVP, it needs to convert it to an MP3 file. It does this by running ffmpeg passing it:

ffmpeg.exe -y -i "\\brough\CD\Aerosmith\Big Ones [UK]\Aerosmith_Big Ones [UK]_Walk On Water.wma" -ab 224 "\\brough\tv\MVP000DFE0BB350.mp3"

ffmpeg barfing, probably because of the UNC paths.

I have changed my settings to remove UNC paths but it is still failing. The transcoded mp3 file is alway 0KB. Here are my logs. Any ideas?

Post the logs again, and I'll extract the manual command for you to run to see if it gives you a detailed error message.

Sub,

I get an error of 'invalid file format'.

On doing some investigation it appears that ffmpeg will not convert lossless WMA files (This is how I store my CD collection on my sever). Any ideas of a workaround ?

Sorry, if ffmpeg wont play it, then you're out of luck. Hopefully they'll add support for it in the future.

Thanks for the quick response and some great software. I will do some investigating/experimenting. Mplayer which is based on ffmpeg (as I understand) plays the files ok.
