I upgraded from 97.07 to 98.08 last week. Since then the GBPVR has quit several times. I noticed that gbpvr.exe was consuming 800MB before it crashed. It also took 100% CPU time. As this was not working, I reverted to 97.07 and all problems have gone.
Any words on this leak?

Let me think : nope. All things are exactly the same as with 97.07

microkid... just as an FYI.

I have two MVPs and the instances of GBPVR currently running shows 75Meg and 66Meg of memory usage. The GBPVR recording service shows 44Meg used. These are the memory usage in a static environment i.e. not streaming media to the MVPs or recording.

Does that sound about right?

Yes that sounds right. I have GBPVR.exe running at 30MB now (97.07).

I've not seen any other reports of this.

It be useful to graph the memory usage in Windows perfmon so we can see when the huge memory usage occurs, and over what period. You could also post the so we could compare what was occurring in GB-PVR during this time.

OK, my cheeks are a little red... :o

Today I noticed my two instances of GBPVR (I have two MVPs) are using 100+Meg and 92+Meg respectively. GBPVR recording service is using 40Meg.

The other day when microkid asked about this I had 75Meg, 66Meg and 44Meg respectively used.

I shut down and rebooted and they're still showing that much memory used right after reboot.

This again is with neither MVP being streamed to and nothing being recorded.

Can someone explain the large variance from my post on 10/2/2006 and now?

When you first start it up, its not using the maximum memory its going to eventually end up using. After you've accessed all the screens, and they've allocated whatever memory they need, then it should be pretty static.

This is on the high side, but still pretty normal. What plugins do you have installed, what skin are you running, and how many channels and days of listings do you have - these all have quite an impact on memory usage.

Sub, I had had the weather plugin installed with 97.13 but hadn't reinstalled the latest weather plugin for 98.8 until just today. Could that be it? That's the only deliberate change I've made to GBPVR since the memory usage I reported on 10/2.

I'm using your default blue skin and I've been using the Music Player plugin pretty much since day one in August 06 with the 97.13 install. My number of listed days has always been 14 and my number of channels hasn't changed since I first discovered GBPVR.

If you say that's near normal, it's no big deal... I'll watch it and see if it settles down some.

Thanks

Well, I checked this morning and now it's showing 150+Meg, 159+Meg and 71+Meg for GBPVR1, GBPVR2 and GBPVR Recording Service.

The only change from before was the recording of 'Desperate Housewives'.
