Hi All,

So I'm experiencing a very interesting problem. I'm trying to tweak my decoder settings to get the smoothest playback I can. I am therefore trying to use lastgraph to look at the decoder string.

However, when I watch a show that was recorded in HD (ATSC, using DVR-MS mux), I am unable to look at the graph file, as I get an error message saying "The file format is invalid" However, when I watch a SDTV show, and then go to the graph file, it opens fine.

So, something about the HD recording is messing with the graph file, which makes me think there is a bigger issue out there.

I've attached the log files and graph file for the HD case, which causes the bad file format error.

Thanks!

This is quite normal. There are logs of dynamic things that arent saved when a .grf file is save, making it fail if you try to load it.

At what point are all of these dynamic things "done" so that the grf file can be viewed?

Everything is done before .grf file is saved, but some of the filters will not save these dynamic settings etc into the .grf file. This results in a failure when the trying to open the .grf file in GraphEdit.

The grf file isnt used GB-PVR for anything (and can be disabled entirely using <SaveGraphFiles> in config.xml). I save it for debug purposes and sometimes find it useful to look at it, but I'm always aware that I may or may not be able to open the file and look at the contents.

If you just want to see the names of the filters in use, you can look at the list in gbpvr.exe-native.log.

Ah that explains a lot for me. I thought I was the only schmuck that couldn't open the grf file. kept giving me the invalid file message too. now I feel better Smile
