GBPVR encoder passthrough?

Hi sub,

Quick question. On the Live Tv option for the config, what does encoder passthrough actually mean? Don't hesitate to be technical, I have a bit of DShow knowledge. Also, I have my own personal deinterlacing filter hanging around here that I would like to try out in GBPVR. If I gave you the CLSID, would it be possible to include it in the decoding options? Thanks for any help.

It basically means its using the output of the MPEG2 encoder, rather than the preview pins. The preview pins tend to have problems on the Hauppauge cards which often leads to loss of sync between the audio and video.

You can use a custom deinterlacing filter by editing putting the filter name in the following setting in config.xml <DeinterlaceMethod>filter name</DeinterlaceMethod>, though this will be using the preview pins so may suffer from the sync issue I mentioned.

"it" in this case is ambiguous but we will assume that "it" refers to "encoder passthrough", whereas the "rather than" refers to "none"

Correct. If its set to anything other than 'encoder pass-through', then it uses the preview pins.
