Hello,
I've searched and searched, and I've changed just about every relevant setting in GBPVR, but every time I try to play an .avi or xvid file, GBPVR completely locks up requiring a Ctrl+Alt+Del to get out.
I can play all of these files fine through WMP. This is one of the main functions I've been looking forward to being able to use with a "Media Center" Style program, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
I don't have any plugins at all installed except Weather, which I removed for diag purposes.
My system specs should be in my sig. Thanks in advance!!!

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I've logged into the problem PC from work and recreated the problem. Also note that every time this happens and I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, the process gbpvr.exe is using over 100,000k of memory useage. Not sure if that's a problem or not.

Thanks again for your help Sub...and here's the file:

09:57:57.171 VERBOSE - D:\Discovery Channel - Everything You Need To Know, Volcanoes (2006.TVRip.SoS)\Everything You Need To Know, Volcanoes.avi
I'm guessing it relates to the default MPEG4 decoder on your machine. This decoder is not common, and not sure how well it copes with the xvid/divx flavours of MPEG4.

I'd suggest installing a real xvid or divx decoder instead.

Hi Sub,
Thanks a million for the reply. I took your advice and downloaded and installed the DivX decoder and now I have video from these files through GBPVR. I still have a couple of related problems though:

1. I tried three different .avi's and none play fullscreen. There is a black bar along the right approx 20% of the screen, and along the bottom approx 15% of the screen. These same files fill the entire screen when played though WMP.

2. While testing this, on the last video I hit the STOP button on the MCE remote, and the system locked up again, requiring a C+A+D. I've attached what appeared to be the correct logfile again for your review when you get a second.

Again, I truly appreciate your support!

Can you switch back to VMR9, then post a screenshot?

Can you post the gbpvr.exe.log that went with this?

Wow, you don't get this good of support from ANY of the big name companies!!! Amazed! Big Grin

Anyways, I switched back to VMR9 (not VMR9 custom) and the vids are now playing full screen and correctly. I played a few and stopped/started and didn't see any problems.

I'm attaching what I think is the correct gbpvr.exe.log matching the time of the native log for your review. If you need any more info for your records just let me know.

Hopefully I won't run into too many more problems and have to bug you! Thanks again sub!

Glad to hear you got working.

I cant see the other problem you had in the logs, but if it reoccurs, post the logs again.

Is there a way to specify which MPEG4 decoder GBPVR will prefer?

I noticed in the gbpvr-native log that it's using the DiVX decoder to decode my xvid's, and it has trouble with audio/video sync... whereas WMP plays it fine (via the actual xvid decoder I presume)... is there a way to specify to GBPVR which to use?

Thanks

No, it'll just use the system default (which you'll probably find WMP is also using). You can of course change the system default using a tool like the RadLight Filter Manager.
