DVI Question

I currently have a Charter MOXI box. I am getting rid of it and making my own PVR. I have an Dell Optiplex 270 P4 2.8ghz with 512mb I am going to use for the time being. I am purchasing a Wintv-PVR-500 and a ATI RADEON 9600PRO AGP8X 256MB DDR TV- OUT DVI card. My question is I have an RCA SCENIUM 52 inch rear projection HDTV. If I have only standard cable is there any benefit of connecting the TV to the PVR via the DVI connection. If so what type of cable do I need? DVI-I or DVI-D? Thanks

your 9600 probably has a DVI-I connection, if it came with a dvi to vga converter, its DVI-I. wikipedia has more info if you want to educate yourself:p

yes there is benefit to connecting with a DVI cable, because you will ba able to do some post processing with your HTPC which will improve the picture quality, also the menus and everything will look sharper. and you will get a true widescreen video signal. there are a bunch of good reasons.

generally hook everything up with the best connection possible.
