UK TVGUIDE issues

Reading one of the earlier forums I decided to download XMLTV GUI to get the UK TV listings. When I use this with GB-PVR, while BBC and other channels appear to have programs, none of the SKY channels have any info. Also If I try to read the raw XML file with Microsoft's latest XML Notepad, it falls over part way through. I've tried re-loading new XML info using XMLTV GUI and I simply can't get a complete working set.

Am I doing this all wrong? Where should I be going for comprehensive UK information?

It sound like the XMLTV grabber you used has put some garbage in the file.

Which XMLTV utility did you use? Most UK users use the one from http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

I use xmltvgui to grab from UK_RT and my xml file is fine. On the other hand, I have a freeview tuner so don't download any sky channels.

Are you grabbing from the UK_RT site or UK_BLEB? Try swapping.

It's some invalid characters as Sub suggested.

Hex "0B" seems to be the problem. I'd guess it's something on the Radio Times website so it would be the same for all rt grabber users.

Open the xml in a hex editor and search and replace all occurrences of 0B with 20. Worked for me.

BTW I use xmltvgui

http://xmltvview.birtles.org.uk/epgviewer.html is useful for finding out what's wrong with the xml file.

Thanks guys - I switched to BLEB and everything seems to be ok. Now all I need is to get 30 ft closer to the Sky box to try this with real TV :-)

I also use xmltvgui with terrestrial and Sky channels with no problems.
I have restricted it to 7 days of programming and this seems to have reduced the problems where programs are relisted at different times and the TV Guide gets screwed up.
I'm about 60 foot from the TV and Sky box, getting a signal from RF2 for both terrestrial and Sky - shoving IR coding back down via a Digi-Eye thingy driven by the PVR-150. Works a treat now, but I'm about to screw it all up by adding a freeview USB widget.
