I attempted to record a show this morning at 10am for 1 hour. Unfortunately I can't set per minute increments for recording so I attempted to set padding values to make sure I recorded all of my show. The recording time was from 10 to 11 and I have a pre-show and post-show padding of 2 minutes each so my file should be 64 minutes in length. It is 59:57 in length. Gbpvr started recording about 2 seconds before the show started and ended up cutting off an unknown number of seconds at the end. Why didn't the padding work???? GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log shows the following which proves, to me at least, that padding isn't active:

10:00:02.109 VERBOSE ConexantRecorder::StartRecording() done
11:00:00.031 VERBOSE ConexantRecorder::StopRecording()
11:00:00.203 VERBOSE ConexantRecorder:Big Grinone()

Is there something else I need to set to get padding to work or am I just not understanding what it's supposed to do? If I'm misunderstanding then I have to ask if there is a way to get down to the minute increments on show schedules so I can manually add my own padding like I'd do with my old ATI software.

By the way, my computer's time is the same as my digital cable receiver so I know that the software should have been able to start and stop recording at the correct times.

Do you realise you can type in any times you want? ie, to end a recording at 11:02, type 1 1 0 2

Padding isnt applied to manual recordings, since you explicitly have to enter a start and end time (which is why you didnt get any).

You'll notice when you schedule a recording from the TV Guide, then it gives you padding options, defaulting to the defaults in the config app.

ok thanks for the clarification. I wish I would have known that. It's hard to say when the episode that got messed up will be on again. The interface is a little awkward and takes time to get used to. I can't tell when I can use the mouse and when I can't (I can maneuver in the guide interface with the mouse or keyboard but I can only move through manual recording settings by using the keyboard).

I'm having to learn to *not* right-click on something to get more information because that just takes me back to the previous screen which is annoying. I thought the < > to the right of start/end times for a manual recording were things to click on and after some playing I realized they were markings to show that the left and right arrow keys can be used but I saw no indication that I could type in the times (normally a textfield denotes that).

I'm using 98.13b by the way. thanks again for your very quick reply.

Get over it. Most people think GB-PVR is pretty easy to use.

You can probably find the show on BitTorrent somewhere.

Maybe it is pretty easy to use after you get past some of the unintuitive aspects of the interface. As for downloading it off of BitTorrent, I don't want to do that because the likelihood it is in the exact same format and quality as my other episodes is not very good and I don't want to mix my recordings with someone else's because different recording settings would most likely be used. That would be fine for watching but not archiving to make a collection like I'm doing.
