Hi,

I have a computer running as Client to the media PC. Waching recordings works fine in filesharing and streaming mode. Only LiveTV runs stuttering in both modes.

I tried to increase the Cache already.

With Graphedit, i found out, that the difference between LiveTV an recodings ist, that in Live TV the GB-pvr parser is used, instad of the mpeg-2 demultiplexer.

If i replace the GBPVR parser with the multiplexer, the playback works fine (but only in Graphedit).

Help would be welcome Wink

The GB-PVR Parser does have to do a fair bit more work than the Microsoft MPEG2 Demultiplexer, since it needs to be able to play files while they're still recordings (which is more complex than it sounds).

Are you on a wireless network?

It's a 100BaseT network, any other Streaming aplication works fine.
Server PC runs at 30% CPU load during live TV, client PC at 20% CPU load.
There are no errors in the logs.

Sorry, I dont know. Maybe try different audio/video decoders to see if it makes any difference.

I had this until I did a clean install of GBPVR on the client and the server, then it just went away.

It appears that when gbpvr-parser is in the loop, it makes the stream unplayable, whether it be livetv or an in-progress recording. I have only seen this happen with HD content (using the HDHomerun).

When attempting to stream with gbpvr-parser, the playback stutters and eventually halts. When this occurs, network traffic according to task manager hangs out between 6-8Mbps (for the client to server interfaces) while the server's interface continues to stream a full 18Mbps from the HDHomeRun (its on a separate interface). CPU usage is under 25% on both the client and server.

To contrast this against playback of a previously recorded program, the client typically pulls about 18Mbp from the server (and the server about 18mbps from the HDhomerun).

I think I can eliminate bandwidth as an issue though. I can record two HD streams on the server while playing back a recorded HD stream on the client without so much as a stutter. It just looks like something is a bit goofy with gbpvr-parser. Is it being too nice on the CPU? Smile It seems like it just doesn't parse data quicker than 8Mbps Tongue

ATSC users dont have much luck with live tv on client PCs. There isnt much I can do about it at this stage. I hope to look into it in the near future though.

That would be awesome! I've been trying to get my client box to stream from my server with its PVR500 for a few days now. During playback of an unfinished recording or live tv, both client and server are sitting at <20% cpu and about 6% network utilization but the client still outputs very badly stuttering video and audio.

I just assumed it was a problem with my setup until I saw this thread.Cool

Actually, I what I was referring to only applied to ATSC users (digital tv used in the US/Canada). It doenst apply to analog devices like you PVR500.
