Hi ,
I have the remote bellow.
I will like to change same keys because they don´t work at all.
I have read in the forum about the irremote.ini and the possibility to change.
I have search my system I don´t have the "irremote.ini".

Is there another way of remaping the keys?

This remote came with the computer (Hush E1) MCE2005.

I think you have a mec remote (because it has the windows media centre logo on it).

Ton posted the following comment in response to skoodog under the heading "Start GBPVR w/ Hauppauge IR remote?"

"On the same note, I use a AutoIt script from pBS (that I tweaked a little bit)...

It:

- Checks if GBPVR is running, if not, it starts it and ends
- If GBPVR is running, but not the active window, it activates it, then ends
- If GBPVR is running AND active, it send the "F7" key to GBPVR.

I then mapped this to the Green button on the MCE remote (using HIP). I have left GBPVR to handle the "normal" MCE keys, but just remapped the extra keys I wanted (DVD to Video Library, Green button to the script above and Power off (PC) to my little "check recording/MVP before shutdown" batch-file).

For those interested, I have inncluded the script and binary in this zip...."

I asked him for more specific instructions and this is what he sent me.
"Okay, assuming you have GBPVR set to MCE remote and have the HIP program installed....

- Extract the "gbpvrun.exe" from the zip-file and copy it to the "gbpvr" directory
- Start the HIP program (select "Configure" after you left-click on the HIP icon)
- Go into "Preferences" (Ctrl+P or "File-Preferences")
- Select "Alternate Input"
- Make sure the device is set to "MCE" (otherwise, click on the "Change Device" button and select "MCE")
- Click on "Add Value"
- Click on the "Green Button" on your remote
- Wait for the confirmation window
- Click on the "Green Button" on your remote
- Optionally, enter "Description" and "Key Name" for the button
- Click on "execute program"
- Go to your GBPVR directory and select "gbpvrun.exe"
- Select "Hidden" from the options in the screen
- Press "OK"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Make sure "Automatically load on system startup" is checked
- Press "OK"
- If an error comes up for the HIP Control key, just ignore it....
- Click on "Run"

That should do the trick.....

Hope this helps.... If your setup differs, just rememeber to make sure that you map the "Green Button" to the "gbpvrun.exe"....

Regards Ton"

I don't have an MEC remote so I hope this helps

I was curious how to do something like this with my Hauppauge 45 button remote. Right now, I can get it to open, but I have to chose the exit option on the main menu in order to close it. Is there a way to minimize it to the tray with the green button if it's already running? Any help would be much appreciated.

if you have the irremote.ini file you can set in the GBPVR section for the green button to press ALT+F4 to close it - unless you setup a script ie using autoit i think you will have a hard time to setup the remote to minimize the app.

O.k. on that same note, is there a way to send it into standby by assigning a button. I know it's somewhat dangerous, because it could potentially be pressed unintentionally which would put the system to sleep. But, with that said, it would be nice to be able to put my system in standby without having to get up.

Secondly, I've searched, but can't find where it's referenced in the Wiki about all of the keyboard commands for Gb-pvr could you point me in the right direction?

O.k. this is just FYI... I fiddled around with the ini files until I found some of the answers that I wanted. Maybe they will be helpful to others. Obviously, underneath the default sub-heading you can change the power button to activat the GB-PVR program. Now the other concern I had was closing that program once it was started. That actually was a really easy fix, if you add the (check spelling of this)GrnPower={alt}{F4} to the GB-PVR section at the very bottom then it will close the program whenever you have it open. Subsequently that will leave it open only in the tray. Also, that makes it such that if you don't have to assign to different buttons and you don't have to worry about closing other applications. Yeah, I accidently did that a couple of times in testing it. Putting it in the GB-PVR section vs. the Default section was so much nicer.

The next one is something that you should be careful about implementing, becaues it could interrupt whatever task you're in the middle of and send your system into standby if you accidently hit the button. It works great for me, but if you have a tendency to change the channel when you don't want to you might not want to do this. I assigned this to the "Green" button under default-you can make it whatever you want, yellow, red, 5, etc. It was a really simple work around actually I can't believe I didn't think about this.

={ctrl}{esc}{sleep(10)}u{sleep(10)}s

If you put that in the ini file for a particular button under the default menu it will send your system into standby without warning. Gb-pvr for whatever reason keeps my system awake, so with these two buttons assigned I am able to shut it down and then send my computer into standby without having to get up. It will then be able to "wake-up" and record other shows.

I'm still working on researching how to be able to wake the machine from standby with the remote. I am not sure that it will be possible considering that the remote is maintained by a program and not an explicit driver. We'll see.

I hope that helps. I know I was excited to get them to work.

Regarding waking from standby - you could try MST which is an MCE utility I use to allow my USb keyboard to wake my client PC up.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~hveijk/mst/indexe.htm

maybe it will work - allows you to set which USB devices can wake up the machine from S3/S4 (and sets if it should be S3 / S4) - also lets you log the startup / standby so you may be able to troubleshoot something which makes your pc wkae up mysteriously (like the windows tme server)
