Hi,

Been using GBPVR with winlirc for some time, was working fine in V.0.98.13 soon as I upgraded to V0.99.5 it stoped working.

Seems like GBPVR is not calling the winclasses.jar file via the .exe Changer Plugin.

Anyone else using the .exe plugin changer in V0.99.5 or know how to trouble shoot this further?

Thanks.

Everyone that uses the Hauppauge IR Blaster uses the .exe channel changer.

I dont know how winlirc works, but if it passes data between processes using the WM_COPYDATA message (ie, windows clipboard), then you may need to change the recording service start to allow service to interact with desktop. Windows Vista doesnt allow this, and Microsoft dont wont people doing it for security reasons, and GB-PVR doesnt require it for its own operation, so the default no longer installs itself to interact with desktop.

It doesn't use the Clipboard, it uses java to talk to the Remote controll software via telnet. see http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=4...stcount=15

My .exe Channel Changer Config

Executable: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\winlirc\WinClass.jar
Parameter: 127.0.0.1 foxtel {channel} 0

When I run this manually it works (cmd prompt), but with the new version it doesn't seem to be calling the Winclass.jar file. Has anything changed in the latest version with the channel changer .exe plugin.

Thanks

I'm surprised you'd be able to do that. I would have though you'd need have something like:

Executable: C:\path\to\java.exe
Parameters: -jar "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\winlirc\WinClass.jar" 127.0.0.1 foxtel {channel} 0

Not in v0.99.5, but in v0.98.13 the .exe channel changer was changed to not use the shell to execute the specified executable. This change was made because using the old method of using the shell to execute was incompatible with IE7 installed when run from the localsystem account. You may have been getting away with running a ".jar" executable through a shell file type association.

uks007 - Glad to see you got this sorted out.
When I replaced my PVR250 with a PVR150 (with IR blaster) I had no requirement to continue using winlirc. However others like yourself have been using it successfully. Would you be interested in editing the wiki to add WINlirc & the java code details required to get this type setup & working? As the original methods have changed slightly as noted above.
