recorded video has reddish cast

I got gbpvr up and running, and so far like it (much easier to use than mythtv). I'm trying to set up a procedure to convert recordings to something I can use on my pda or mp3 player, and I've noticed that the video has a reddish cast when played in windows media player, with or without re-encoding (using mencoder)

and yet the video looks fine when played from gbpvr itself. I searched quite a bit and couldn't find anything about this - is it just me? (or am I not describing it right in my searches...)

Perhaps WMP is playing back the video using overlay rendering and gbpvr is using VMR.

In your windows advanced display properties you should have an overlay tab. Try reseting the values in this and also in the color tab.
