I'm assuming this is the original "NOVA-S" rather than the new "NOVA-S Plus" or "NOVA-SE2" etc. This original device does not use BDA drivers by default, so to get BDA drivers you need to install the TechnoTrend Budget BDA drivers insteda of the Hauppauge ones. Get them from http://www.TechnoTrend.de.

i have installed the bda drivers but i am still having trouble trying to get the card to work with gb-pvr. I am not sure about the settings i am using.

I live in Surrey,England. My dish is pointing to get all the sky stuff from astra 1B,1C....

For my Recording Source - i selected BDA Recording Plugin
and my settings are as follows

Device Type - Hauppaughe Nova-s
Device Number - 1
Country - All Countries
Region / Transmitter - Astra 1b, 1c, 1e...
LNB LOF1: 11300
LNB Switch: 11300
LNB LOF2: 11300
Powered is checked
DiseqC - None

My Epg source
Epg source is Bleb(UK)
I have updated Epg and it gets a list of channels fine.

When i click the Map digital channels to Epg channels it goes through the list but it does not find anything. The signal and quality are both 0.

If i start the Tuning Assistant - it asks you to select a Card Type and Country. Nova-s is not listed in the Card Type - so i am a bit stuck. Please if you know what i am doing wrong please let me know. thanks

I'm guessing these arent right for you setup. These settings are appropriate for the LNBs we use here in New Zealand, but in the UK they typically use universal LNBs with different values.

thanks for that - i entered the correct values for my universal lnb

LNB LOF1 9750
LNB Switch 22000
LNB LOF2 10600

when i scan for channels now - it complains about mfc71.dll missing after which it finds a channel and then crashes:eek:

My card still does not show up when i start the tuning assistant - if you have any more ideas they would be much appreciated. thanks

I'm not sure why that file would be required, and havnt seen any other comments about requiring it.

I guessing it'd worth adding it to see if the problem goes away: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?mfc71

It shouldnt show up in the Tuning Assistant. This tool is only used for analog cards.

thanks for the reply. I added the mfc dll to the config.exe directory and it seems to have fixed the missing dll problem. It still crashes on doing a scan after it finds bbc1. Are there any switches in the registry that i can turn on to generate a log file?

zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
