I was reading one of my rarely visited bookmarked sites and came across this article: Satellite Pay Channels on Your Computer For Free (if you have a DVB card)

Now I've seen DVB mentioned on this site a lot, but always thought it was a European thing because you never hear about DVB in the US (which is where I am).

Then, from that article, I came across www.lyngsat.com and saw a section called Free TV from United States. At first I thought there was nothing worth watching on this list, but upon further investigation I found I was wrong.

From searching the forums, I've found that there are 3 types of DVB: DVB-T, DVB-S, and DVB-C. I'm guessing that DVB-T is more like our ATSC which is digital channels coming from antennas from local stations. I think I'm more interested in DVB-S which are channels that come from satellite.

So here goes my questions....
1. Where can I find more information about utilizing DVB in the US?
2. How well does DVB work with GB-PVR in the US?
3. How easy is it to get DVB channels in the US and how many are easily available?
4. Are there any threads about this? I couldn't find anything that explained DVB to me and how it is in the US.

I think all questions can be summed up by question 1. Anyways, any help is appreciated, thanks.

There is a few threads with discussion here, one example being: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=102g

There is probably quite few other forums on the web discussing this - one with a dedicated north american section is: http://dvbn.happysat.org/index.php

Pretty well from what I've heard. I doesnt support the proprietary EPG formats used by DishNetwork etc though, so you'll have use zap2it or xmltv rather than the DVB EPG source.
