The below was to be my post but I have since rectified the issue with record/playback via multiple devices. Don't ask me how :confused: Rolleyes

This is for historical reference to my next post/issue which will follow shortly.

Firstly, I have searched the various threads & Wikipedia to no avail for any satisfactory answers.

I had a perfectly working single 150MCE tuner system. Today I bought & installed a second, identical card. I installed it using the same drivers' set as the first. There are no conflicts or IRQ issues.

After installation I had no sound from the 2nd card. I verified this by reconfiguring the channels so some were on the first, & others on the second one. I removed both cards from GBPVR config & redid them. This solved the sound issue.

However, I am unable to use LiveTV if I am recording; it comes up with the usual 'there are no available tuners, yada yada ya'. I can record using both cards & then if I try LiveTV, it gives me the option of watching either of the recording programmes. Also, the tray icon verifies both devices are recording.

When I set update EPG (grabbed using XMLTVNZ.exe) from within gbpvr app it will only update the first device which leaves an entire set of channels vacant in the TV Guide screen -see below. This also adds an extra set of channels to one of the devices (device #2); ie. I have extra copies of all channels showing in the channels' setup area of Device #2 of the capture sources tab of gbpvr config -see below.

Can I remove the duplicate channels from displaying from within the TV Guide? I have tried manually removing them from the channels tab within gbpvr config with no success. I have tried unchecking the enable box within the edit capture source but that will make the device disappear using gbpvr.

I have just finished a dual record from separate channels with no success: the first recording is good; the second one is just static. I have tried scrolling through all the channels in gbpvr & a couple do show just static (I have since rectified this). I entered LiveTV & tried removing the aerials on the various channels, but I assume it would be using the same device for all channels unless it is required for same-time recording or recording/LiveTV. What am I doing wrong :confused: FIXED.

Now, to clarify the matter.
Quote:When I set update EPG (grabbed using XMLTVNZ.exe) from within gbpvr app it will only update the first device which leaves an entire set of channels vacant in the TV Guide screen -see below. I also have the small matter that the channels are screwed up using the TV Guide. If I attempt to programme a recording with TV Guide it will record a channel different to what I want. ie. (refer to the edit recording source jpg) Prime=channel 2; c4=TV3 etc.

I have gathered that the recordings are made using the extra set of channels inserted using the update EPG feature (TV1, TV2, TV3, C4, Prime), not the manually set up ones (TV One, TV Two, TV Three, C Four, Prime 2). How do I fix this? Thanks.

How did you get those channels called "TV Three", "Prime2" and "C Four"? GB-PVR would havnt created those - it looks like you've manually created them, or manually added them to your xmltv file.

Yes. I did create them manually, & I renamed them deliberately to differentiate between the devices. I originally tried using just the EPG ones but I had no success in having the second tuner available to watch LiveTV.

Hold fire for the time. I have just viewed my first TV Guide recording & it recorded the right channel. So I will see what happens over the next few days. Thanks for the response.

You lose a lot of benefits by doing this. Its better to let GB-PVR know they're the same channel, which allows it to resolve conflicts, move to recordings different tuners as needed etc.

This is also the reason you got the 'no tuners available' message - since its probably trying to return to a channel that was only available on the one tuner which was recording at the time. You probably could have worked around this by going to the tv guide and doing a 'watch' on a channel not on that capture source.

In summary, better to avoid doing this.

So you're saying I should remove the manual channels? Is there any specific method for doing this? Or just delete them from within edit recording source?

It will be interesting as the first time I tried this, the channels were incorrect after updating EPG.

I would.

I think its best to only have channels that come in from the EPG source you use - in this case the XMLTV file generated by xmltvnz.

OK, Sub. This is what I did. I manually emptied the EPG from both capture sources within GBPVR config, then removed all the channels from both devices, exited out of config. I then checked the sources & no channels were present. However, they still existed in the channels tab.

I then entered the GBPVR app & updated the EPG from there. As expected the channel information is wrong:

TV1=? no sure what channel: possibly MaoriTV but with clear audio
TV2=TV1
TV3=static: video & audio
Prime=TV3
C4=TV2
MaoriTV=Static: has no audio

This was tested in LiveTV using my navigate buttons on my cordless keyboard.

What programme do you use to capture the EPG? XMLTVNZ has worked fine with one card setup with manual channels. Why should it differ with more than one?

Are you sure you've got the right channel number entered against each channel in your capture source? You can run the tuning assistant to see what channels are where.

It shouldnt differ. You should be able to set up multiple capture sources all using the same xmltvnz .xml file. Thats what I do.
