I bought an OnAir Gt last week. After messing with it for a while, and having to purchase a signal amplifier, I ran into an interesting problem. The computer I plan to use is an MSI AGP MB, 1 gig ram, Athalon 64 3000, PNY 6200GT with WinXP Pro. I did this on the DVI port of my LCD monitor. The video was jerky and quite bad. After doing everything I could think of, I decided to plug it into my regular computer, an Asus AGP MB with 512 MB ram, Athalon 64 3200, and a PNY Quadro FX 500 with WinXP Home. This is plugged into the vga port. It worked perfectly. Since I had just done a clean install on the Asus computer due to a fried HDD. I decided to do a clean install on the MSI. This did nothing. I then swapped video cards, and this also did nothing. This is happening in or out or GBPVR. Any ideas? I did not try vga on the MSI computer with either card.

Very interesting Keith... I also have a MSI board on my gbpvr box.. and have video issues with the OnAir.... however my issues seem a little different than yours... When I watch a channel on the OnAir, I keep losing the signal for a moment... anywhere from 5 seconds to 1 minute btwn these issues. I am losing video frames and audio.. then it plays smooth... is this the jerkiness you are describing? or something more like stuttering?

The issue you have sounds like what I had before adding the amplifier. The db level on the OnAir needs to exceed 30db, or it just doesn't work. I'm thinking mine is an Nvidia chipset on the MSI board vs a VIA chipset on the Asus. I'm going to look see if there are new bios/drivers for the MSI.

yes.. my problem is when using the DxVA on the video card.. I lost signal strength on the QAM channels... 34dbs would drop below ... amplifier helped but did not solve the problem... I thought at first it was just the video card, but another video card did the same thing... anyhow.. your issue sounds more like a problem where the CPU is getting buried to fast (usually to DPC's or other processes then) -- I am wondering if u have looked into that as well... I have the MSI Neo2 Platinum with same processor as you.

I am in the process (when time allows to image & dump the os and start clean and see if there is any dif)

Good luck!
(take a look at the other ONAir thread in this forum like 13 pages long)... also look at few threads that mention DPC's

After reading the threads you mentioned, and looking at the sysinternals, I feel convinced that it is the Nvidia chipset. I have an Asus board with a Via chipset lying around that got obsoleted by pci express here at work. I think I'll toss it in there and see what happens! Thanks for the info.

Well--After trying every combination of the 3 motherboards and 2 video cards, I find the same stuttering problem with all of them. Guess it's not the chipset. As SniperDude suggested, the cpu spikes, and the signal gets weak, when the stuttering occurs. The one thing that is common to all, is that It happens much more often with DVI then with VGA. It also happens more at night. My signal is about 1.5 db weaker at night then in the day. I guess I'm going to have to get it all put back together:eek:, and figure out what's maxing the cpu.
