I have read in the forums that the transcoding (auto convert) takes place after the show is done or at a scheduled time. If you are running ComSkip, does it transcode the original recorded file or the edited one without the commercials?

Thanks!

Comskip does not remove commercials, it only makes a txt-file with a list of where the commercials are in the show. So transcoding would be done on the complete show.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

I think you can do Comclean with in GBPVR's post processing (bat) which will remove the commercials.....

I'm just about to try ComSkip and would like to know this too. Is the Process: Recording Complete, Run ComSkip, Auto Convert DVR-MS to MPEG2 or is ComSkip run after conversion to MPEG2.

If ComSkip is run before conversion, I need to use DVRCut (after ComSkip) instead of Comclean

If you doing all this sort of processing you're probably best to manually run all the things you want in the PostProcessing.bat so you can be sure of the order things are run.

Just an update,

Recorded a show and did ComSkip post processing (DVRCut setting enabled) and manually tested the DVRCut .bat file created with ComSkip. The commercials were cut pretty damn close to their marks. This was done in the DVR-MS file type, I did no post processing conversion to MPEG2 - not yet anyways.

Going to automate the DVRCut .bat file in post processing next.

Sub,

Is there a parameter for the recorded file's path that is passed to postprocessing.bat? It looks like there is only two: %1 and %2

DVRCut doesn't use the files from ComSkip, ComSkip can create a .bat file to run DVRCut (with the commercial marks) but places it into the recording directory (which changes of course). Not sure If I can use DVRCut in postprocessing.bat... Sad

I will see if I can force the .bat created with ComSkip for DVRCut to be created in the GBPVR directory (this .bat does have the full path for the recorded file)...

Sorry about that, what I meant to say is that ComSkip and ComClean clean up the recording of commercials in postprocessing.bat. So does the transcoding take place after postprocessing.bat has been fulfilled so that the edited video file is transcoded and not the original?

Thanks!
