Hi,

Like most people, I`ve got GB-PVR running at start-up, so that the GB-PVR
icon appears in my system tray.

I`m using Zone Alarm Firewall, and have noticed that GB-PVR tray makes
network activity occur every two seconds or so, which is highlighted as a
network event on my little Zone Alarm Icon.

I`d prefer it if GB-PVR didn`t do this, but have no idea hoe to stop it, or even
what the activity is. I`m guessing it may have something to do with network
streaming or something, but I have no need for it, and don`t have my EPG
updated over the network either, as it`s using the transcode data.

Is there a way to stop this frequent network activity in the GB-PVR settings
at all ?

I`ve had a good look but can`t see anything obvious, but I know that the
registry can be used with this utility as well.

Cheers for any help, and if someone could explain just what the activity is
as well, that would be great.

Regards,

Highlander

It's probably all local-host traffic from gbpvr. The traffic is not in/out your computer. It's the way .Net works I guess.

the tray app refresh rate is default 2 secs, so reset it to whatever in the config.xml...Smile
the tray app commmunicates locally to the recording service with TCP....looking like network acces even tho it never leaves machine..

As mentioned by the guys above, its just the GB-PVR tray app checking the recording/tv status of recording service. Its just local traffic between two separate processes running on the same machine. This communication uses .NET remoting, which uses TCP/IP under the hood.

You can either decrease the frequency it occurs, or go without the tray app.
