Does anyone know what mpeg2 settings are best to encode to for native playback on the MVP (through GBPVR).
I'm encoding my DVD's to mpeg2 using TMPGENC pro. I am currently doing CQ_VBR with ranges 600 - 3000 at 720x480 23.97 fps (NTSC FILM)

Are you sure about your use of 23.97 fps for NTSC. I believe that should be 29.97 fps.

I set mine via tmgenc and use the svideo settings seems to work, allows skipping within the file. I found anything else didn't work properly - Especially mpeg1 - which would play, but no skipping.

are you referring to the svcd config file?

are you able to use tmpgenc to transcode on the fly?

Yeah the svcd template that you can load - load up the svcd-PAL (being NZ) - file open template, or is it down right bottom right hand corner somewhere - I can't remember.

Then once that's loaded, give it the mpg file (or avi) that you want to re-encode and off you go...

Not sure if tmpgenc would do it on the fly, well actually it probably would, but I seem to remember that the file is locked open and nothing else can touch the newly encoded file until tmpgenc has finished with it.

I'm very interested in this. If it can create a file that one can skip rew/ff then I want to see if we can work with on-the-fly.

Can you outline all software and steps. I'm not familar with tmpgenc
