I have installed 0.97.07 and everything except the MVP is working ok. What is happening is that the MVP will work only the first time after my PC is rebooted ( the MVP has to be switched off during reboot). If the MVP is then switched off and on or even power cycled if will display menus but will not play mpeg files. It just presents a blank screen.

Restarting GBPVR does not fix the problem
Changing dongle.bin doesn't work (I have tried about 6 different versions with the same result including versions which worked previously)
The MVP worked OK with previous versions of GBPVR.
I have installed GBPVR in a clean directory and used no external plugins.

Here are my logs gbpvr.exe-2.log shows a working MVP. Then after switching off and on the MVP gbpvr.exe-1.log shows the error state.

Any ideas?

I am also experiencing this same problem. The only way to get the MVP to play a GBPVR recorded file is to reboot the GBPVR computer.

When I get a chance I will attach my logs. I just wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one with this problem.

I've noticed that if I leave the MVP for a few hors then the menu's navigate fiine and the weather etc, but going to view a recorded program doesn't bring up the 'play, resume, delete' menu - just a blank screen. The only way out is to switch the mvp to standby and back, but them it won't connect to the server. ONly a reboot of the PC brigs it back to like.
I've had to revert to the previous GBPVR version to make the MVP useable.

I have about the same problem, but thus far only when playing files with Video Archive 3.0. The files listed in "Video Library" provided by GB-PVR itself have played OK thus far, though I don't use that as much as Video Archive. I don't see a definite pattern yet. Sometimes a couple of files play, and then the next one won't.

Here are the log files that are created when this problem occurs.

I have a similar problem. This morning I installed the updated 97.07 version over the prior version (.net v2 was installed first) but nothing I tried worked so I uninstalled prior .net versions, unintalled GB-PVR, deleted old GB-PVR folders, and reinstalled 97.07. When I tried to start GB-PVR, I got a message that my computer was not VMR9 compatible, although it worked on the prior version of GB-PVR. Changing to VMR7 I could get GB-PVR to start and I could browse the TV guide but selecting Live TV I got "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Never saw this under the prior version. I could only get Live TV to play by changing to Overlay Manager. Since I got it work on the computer I tried to output to TV through the MediaMVP (model 86019, revision H2.) Now I can get the GB-PVR menu and can browse the TV guide only on computer restart with MediaMVP unplugged, plugging in, stopping services, restarting recording service. If I try to access Live TV I get a black screen for a few seconds and then the MediaMVP set up screen that says contacting servers. It will sit on this screen as long as I let it (over 1 hour) and neither turing off the MediaMVP nor unplugging it will help, only restart. Perhaps I should mention that I'm using a PVR150. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Greg

Similar problem here, patd. I was re-testing dongle.bins and often I got the blank screen and no sound when trying to play mpegs or LiveTV. The MVP blinks the red light when remote buttons are pushed but it doesn't communicate with the server which times it out.

Here it sort of looks as if the dongle.bin doesn't get loaded properly as re-powering the mvp (re-loading the dongle.bin) has sometimes got it working again (didn't touch the PC).

Can I please see a few more logs from people reporting this error with not being able to play files?

jjakober, can you power reproduce your logs? I'm not seeing any error in your logs, so am not convinced I'm look at the right file. When you reproduce it and post the logs, can you also let me know the name (and path) of the file you attempt to play?
