Hi all ...just want some advice, has anyone got MVP and Vista running 100% without any lock ups or resets. Have tried everything from advice on various forums and what do you know lack of any info from hauppauge support on the matter. The best I have had this working was after following advice to turn off tcp scaling... this means I can watch more video before a reset! Any news would be much appreciated.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has this working as I am upgrading to Vista at the weekend and would still like to use GB-PVR for the MVP in the bedroom, cheers.

I've given it a fair whack of time and have concluded it is not a goer on MVP for my setup. The std dongle won't last more than a couple of button presses. The 'new' dongle, 1.1.52.0 does communicate but mpg and LiveTV often bang it out. The MVPMC dongle is not ready either.

And if usevidinset in config.xml is set true, ALL bets are off. It's as if there is not nearly enough bandwidth to cope (wired 100Mbs network).

I would be very interested to hear from others to see how universal these problems are.

I have the same types of problems. I have to power it off and have it reconnect every so often.
While I am watching live TV it works fairly well as long as I am not flipping around the channels too often. Last night I was able to watch over an hour straight
The more I skip between channels and use FF/RW the more often I have to restart the MVP.
I haven't made any changes to the original GBPVR setup other than using the "new" dongle.

Are you running with the video insets working?

What do you mean by video inserts?

They are effectively picture-in-pictures of the video or TV action currently being played. For example, if you return to the Menu while a vid is playing, that vid will show in the space to the right of the menu items.

My Vista system is not ready yet and I haven't tried but I see that Hauppauge has a beta for MVP though it does not state it's Vista ready. Maybe you can try using the MVP with it's services instead of GBPVR. Yes, I know, it defeats the purpose of using GBPVR doesn't it?

I can't remember the last time Hauppauge had software that wasn't beta. In any case the last time I talked with one of their developers on this they weren't 100% Vista ready and their 1.1.52 dongle is strictly a test release so problems are to be expected.

I did use the video inserts in the blue skin until I changed to the high visibility skin.

There are inserts for some of the screens. It may freeze more while there is an insert, but I'll watch and see if that really is the case. I think it may be that I am just using the remote more often and that is what seems to cause the problems.
