I can't get the dvd function to play and dvd's. It comes up to a blank screen, no audio or video. I am using a normal d: drive and have it set that way in the config app. The dvd plays fine with vlc player outside of gbpvr. It seems like this once worked when I first installed gbpvr, but I remember having to install the xp codec pack because I had no video in live/recorded mode-only sound. The codec's fixed that. Am I missing a codec or screwed one up? My only option on DVD playback tab is DVD navigator and system defaults on all decoders. Any help is greatly appreciated, I have everything else fine tuned and working great.

Thanks

Thats a pretty good sign you dont have video/audio decoder compatible with DVD playback.

I hate being a newbie - but what do I need? I need a software decoder right, can you point to one. A link.
Thanks Again

When it comes to DVD playback, most people use the nvidia or cyberlink decoders. Unfortunately both of these cost $$$. There might be other free options, but I'm not really sure. The dscaler decoder maybe?

As usual, Sub is correct. Wink I had the same problem with my brand new system and downloaded dscaler and it now works great. No special install, just use the basic installer that come with it and it shows up in config and works.

I installed Dscaler as described, but I still only have System Default as my only option:confused: . Is there some other step that I am missing? I have been using GB-PVR for a while and love it Smile except for the inability to play DVD's. Sad Thanks for you help.

You could check that your config.xml has "DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder" somewhere in the <SupportedDVDDecoders> setting.

Did you ever get this working? I have the exact same problem. I installed the dscaler mpeg filters, and selected "DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder" in the config. Still just get a blank screen. I see an error in the log, but not sure what it means. I've attached it in case anyone has a minute to take a look.

TIA,
