Ok .. I'm trying hard to determine if the MVP & GBPVR will do what I want. What I have is :

220 DVD's ripped to HDD (2TB raid array) in native vob/ifo format. I also have snapstream recording shows

From what i understand the MVP can't play the "live tv" but can play the recorded shows yes ? What about all my DVD's ? Some of my reading indicates I can't play vob/ifo ??

There is no native support in GB-PVR for playing DVDs via the MVP.

There are some hacks people use, but you dont get all the menus and there are no easy to jump to other parts of the movie etc.

You can watch live tv and playback recordings via the MVP.

using xMVPdvd plugin with mencoder as the encoder, you can skip as normal..still no menus tho..
only vlc as encoder suffers from bad timelines...[the default for xmvpdvd]

you can skip in vlc encoded files after it's finished the whole thing, but with mencoder you can skip to anywhere within what's already been encoded while it's still encoding..[truely on the fly]

look in the xmvpdvd support thread for alternate bacth file commands for mencoder..

Hrm, let me be clear i want to continue using BTV to record my shows not the gbpvr tv stuff. The gbpvr can watch the live tv that BTV is recording or just the finished .mpg shows ?

No, you'd have to be using GB-PVR to do that stuff.
