ski44 Wrote:Sub, thanks for your time and releasing this patch... however this has not corrected the problems introduced in .99.12 for me.
What problems were you getting exactly? This patch only fixed one specific problem that was present in a few of the logs posted. Post your logs with that patch applied and I'll take a look.

The problem is that I will begin viewing video (either Live TV, or a recorded program), and everything seems normal... but a few minutes later if I pick up the remote to skip a commercial, adjust the volume, go back to the menu, etc I get no response. The MVP led blinks, and only the power button works. Video continues playing back. Logs attached. I noted that the problem occurred at 12:18am but strangely the MVP log stops at 12:16am.
I just tried an experiment, with interesting results. I let the live tv to continue to play back even though the remote was not responding. When the program switched from Jay Leno at 12:39 to Conan, suddenly the main menu was up on the screen and the live TV sound was playing in the background. Strangely, the remote was now working again. Also strange, was the log picked back up right at 12:39. I selected Live TV from the main menu and live TV came up no problem.
At exactly 12:46, the remote stopped responding again.

Yeah, that would be something different. The patch should help people that are backing up too many updates in the menu and other screens (for example, holding down the 'right arrow' key in tv guide).
That said I'm happy to look at your problem as well, but you'll need to reset the logging level to 'debug' then reproduce the problem and repost the logs. The previous logs were set to 'error' and didnt contain the level of info I'd require.
Ok, log level set to debug. I let live tv play for a long time, and then at 1:58 AM, I pressed the blue button. This worked as expected. Then at 1:59 AM I pressed the "back/exit" button on the remote and it didn't work. Then I tried the blue button again, but it didn't work either. No buttons would respond except for power. The video continued to play back. At 2:07 I powered down the MVP.

I was wondering if there has been any progress on the above problem, as I too am having the same problem. One thing I have noticed, but will have to confirm, is that if gbpvr becomes unresponsive and then comes to an area marked as a commercial by comskip, it will skip the area as expected and the queue of button commands I pressed will then execute.

I experienced the same problem after installing 99.12. I applied the patch referenced earlier in this thread but it didn't seem to make any improvement. Finally I tried using a different dongle (I believe it is from 99.5 install) and everything seems to work normally again. I swapped the dongles several times and had GBPVR stop responding each time within 3 or 4 minutes or so and 5-10 button presses when using the 99.12 supplied dongle. Using the older dongle GBPVR was stable in use over the course of an evening.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure it is just the dongle. Its the only significant change between the two releases.
tipstir Wrote:Can you post of the prior you had made for GBPVR from 98.x, through 99.5 if possible dongle.bin I mean. I know I could get them out if I had to install each one from prior versions, but would be easier if you had them around?
I dont have them easily accessible to me on my new machine, but I'll try to post the previous dongle in the next day or two. (98.x and 99.5 used the same dongle)
Quote:Also you never answered my question about MVP brightness? Is that option possible now? Otherwise I had to make the PVR-150s a -5 for brightness as it was way to dark on MVPs to watch dark clips..
GB-PVR has no control over the colour or brightness on the MVP - you'll just get whatever the Hauppauge defaults are.
