Hi I am trying to setup GBPVR using a Twinhan DVB-C card in UK, I have edited a transponder .ini file with the correct settings for my provider but it just crashes while doing a scan. it seems to be random times, I made an .ini file with just one transponder at a time and most are ok but some will cause crash once but OK the next?
I have included the Logs, Many thanks in advance, CharlieRam

Hi,

I had similar problems with my Freecom DVB-T card (which I have now dumped for an MSI Mega Sky) and it generally got upset because the drivers were iffy.

My MSI still crashes if I cancel the scan or do something weird but as long as I am patient and walk through the process it seems happy.

Try scanning for channels with the supplied software first and see if thats ok. If it is ok then I always try the old fashioned reboot, and walk through it without interuppting it etc.

If it's still a problem then you might check for updated drivers.

For me, paying £14 for a new DVB-T card was the easy answer as those Freecoms seem to be a nightmare.

hope this is of some use...

hi thanks for reply, but my DVB-C card works fine with other apps including mytheatre, mediaportal, dvbdream and others but they all lack something so i wanted to try gbpvr. All I want is a stable DVB-C MCE2005 clone,Its not too much to ask is it?Smile

I'm personally using a DVB-C setup here, and it works great for me.

What is most likely going wrong is there is something in the broadcast stream that GB-PVR doesnt like. Its hard for me to guess what that is, but if you have access to a web server then we could find out. What you'd need to do is record a 70MB or so full transport stream file using the Twinhan CaptureTool, then make that file available to me. I'll download it an look at it in the debugger, find the source of the problem and fix it.

If you're going to do this, now would be good though. In about half a day I'll be out of town for a few days.

Hi sorry didn't get back to you sooner but I was busy also, I have now got BDA ts capture tool from twinhans site but does it matter what frequency i set it on as long as its one that carries programmes?

I had a similar problem, but found that installing this update from Microsoft fixed it:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896626

As sub suggests, there's something in our UK DVB stream that isn't liked by one of the default BDA components. This update replaces the problematic component.

Hope it works for you,
Tim

Try timh's suggestion, but if it doesnt work try creating a 70MB recording from 379000, which seems to be the frequency last used before the crash.

I'm out of town for another day or so though.

Thats why I said 'if you have access to a webserver' in my post. Sorry, I cant provide you anywhere to upload the file, but I can download it if you can serve the file somewhere. You might be able to find some free service (rapidshare? megaupload?).
