Problem with WEP 128 on the Wireless MVP

Hi, was wondering if anyone has had this situation?

I can't get the Wireless MediaMVP player to connect to my wireless network. I was on WPA, but downgraded (which was disappointing to have to do) to WEP-128. I reconfigured each of my home computers to the new 26 character key, and they all connected using the new key.

I've checked and rechecked and rechecked (plus even a few more times) to ensure that I accurately put the correct 26 character key in the mvp settings, and it accurately reflects what I put in all the others. It says it can connect but can't obtain an IP from my router's DHCP server. My Netgear router usually has no problem doling out an IP to a device that knows the correct key, so I’m not sure what's going on.

I temporarily ran a long ethernet cable across the floor to test the wired portion, and that connected fine. So I'm stuck in not knowing what to do since I can't connect.

Any troubleshooting solutions that some of you might know would be helpful.

Have you tried WEP 64? I took the opposite approach with my wireless, started with an open network to get the connection going, then implemented WEP 64 and disabled SSID broadcast. After you get that going then try stepping up to 128. Can't guarantee it but worked for me.

Hi, I decided to run cat5 through the attic from my office (where the router is) to the MVP by the TV. I feel it'll probably be more stable and I can set my security back up to the WPA level.

I have had problems with 128 bit WEP on my network. In my situation I was able to connect fine with my MVP, but my computer was very flaky, and my router rebooted all the time. I decided just to blame this on my Linksys router or PC Card being flaky and dropped back down to 64-bit WEP.

Searching the web I have found other people saying that 128 bit WEP in general is flaky, probably due to lackluster engineering in our routers and interfaces.
