Hi all,

I hope someone can help. I've been using GB-PVR with ntl (now virginmedia) for several years now. Originally I had a pace stb, which was subsequently replaced with a silver Samsung one. I have a redeye serial IR transmitter to change the channel on the stb. This has been pretty hit and miss, due to the use of a toggle bit in the remote codes.
Now virginmedia has taken over, and my stb has just updated itself with new firmware, and the channel changing is even more problematic.
I'm using a pvr350 for capture and playback.
Is there anyone that has a solution for channel changing on this stb? I am prepared to buy a different IR transmitter if that will help.
Please, please let me know if you have any ideas!

Cheers,

John

The USB-UIRT usually solves any and all such problems, but costs pretty much Sad I can't *guarantee* that it will work with your STB, but the ones it doesn't work with are pretty special (Bang Olufsen, for example). If interested, then they have a forum where you can ask if anyone knows.

you had this problem since the EPG update? (which is still as flakey as before..)

ntl are going down in my estimations at the moment - they can't seem to do anything right!

i'm hoping i can get HIP working with an MCE blaster to manipulate the samsung 2100 box. that the same as yours?

That's correct. It was (sort of) working before the EPG update, but now I have a problem recognising repeated numbers...
I've tried a number of things - sending a # keypress after each digit, but with no luck so far. I used to send an enter keypress first, to get the boxes attention, so to speak, but that now brings up the epg, which it used not to.
I'm getting thoroughly annoyed with Virgin - but I'm stuck with them as we're not allowed to have a satellite dish...
Where can I get an MCE ir blaster from?

The update made my box accept 4 numbers instead of 3 as before, so quick channel changes now don't work as it reads them as 4 characters instead of 3 but its not a big deal as I normally press guide on gbpvr then move to the channel I want when watching live tv. My box is the samsung 2110T.

have you tried turning off the epg?

if you go into the guide and settings - set on screen epg or whatever to 0 seconds...

i heard this speeds things up as well as turn the rubbish ntl epg off...

i'm still configuring hip as a type (sort of - footy on too) and have had to buy a second remote (mce remotes don't work with the alternate IR driver, i found out...eventually!)

as for blaster, not sure you can buy them seperate and you need to plug it into the MCE beanbag (receiver/transmitter thing)

i bought one of these which works like a dream and also delivered in about 2 working days!

Sounds like you have a serial ir blaster, so you can try "digits.exe" and winlirc to send the signals. It's at least something free to try before you spend any money. Here's a pretty good posting on how to set it up http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...digits.exe.

Let me know if you have any questions about how to set it up.
