I have GB-PVR running on Windows, works great, no worries Smile

The only issue I have is that I cannot go backwards in any way (skip back, play in reverse, whatever). I don't even know whats possible for going in reverse, I've never done it. All I want to do is be able to skip back and see some incredible scene again without starting from the beginning and skipping forward.

The indicator light on the IR reciever blinks as it recieves *something* from the remote when I press the << button. But nothing happens. Skipping forward works fine. I actually bought another StreamZap remote, thinking maybe my first one was faulty (I'd had it too long to return it, and there was no response from StreamZap's tech support). No dice.

I tried using Notepad, as someone suggested it might show the characters or commands being captured by the IR reciever, but that was not the case.

So my question: how do I see what the remote is sending? How do I get the remote to send the right command to actually go backward? All other functions of the remote work perfectly.

Try pressing Ctrl-LeftArrow to see if it jumps back a minute, or Ctrl-D to see if it jumps back 10 seconds.

I'm not sure what software you use with a StreamZap remote, but I suspect its not configured to sent these same keystrokes.

in the gbpvr directory there is a Keymappings diretory.
In that directory there is a program called "showkey".

Run it and press the key on your remote. It should show the key.

THEN THE GOOD PART.
You can change the keys to GBPVR by editting the xml files in the Keymappings directory. You can have more than one key for each function but not more than one function for each key. e.g.
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_UP" key="Add"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_DOWN" key="Subtract"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_UP" key="VolumeUp"/>
<command name="DVD_VOLUME_DOWN" key="VolumeDown"/>

Where "Add" and "Subtract" are the original keys and "VolumeUp" and "VolumeDown" is the result from pressing key of your remote.

I am not sure if this is "legit" but it works and I programmed my remote to almost full functionality using this method. Remember to backup the original xml file before changing.

You can do what azrealhk suggest, but its be better to modify your remote's config to send the correct keystrokes if this is possible, otherwise you'll find yourself having to edit these files with every release.

Doh! never thought of that. Time to backup my edits.
BTW, My remote only came with a driver, and nothing to reconfigure. Boo Hoo, so I guess I am stuck with editing the xmls.

Edit: BTW you try using HIP, which remaps your remote, to keys used in GBPVR. I managed to remap my keys, but I found slow response (maybe due to my lack of technical expertise), but you may have better luck.
