I suppose I brought this upon myself by responding in another thread that I’d never had to rebuild my PC, but my PC died over the weekend. I have reinstalled the OS and apps, but GBPVR will no longer stream video to the MVP.

I hope it is something silly and easy to fix. I can see the GBPVR UI on the MVP (although it seems to take longer to first come up) and I can navigate though the plug-ins, but when I go to play a video the duration shows up as 1 second and when I try to skip forward in the video I get an object not found error. I can watch the same video running GBPVR on my PC and it works just fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jeff

Were these problematic 1 second videos recorded before or after your system reinstall?

No, everything was fine before then. I also should probably clarify that the videos themselves are not 1 second long. THey are full length and play just fine from the PC. Recording is also working just fine. It is only video (and audio) playback from the MVP that is broken.

You misread rscheller's question Smile He was asking whether there is any difference in playbackability (fun word) between recordings made before the system crash and after the system crash. Do you have any old recordings left?
I'm not always right

Have you checked the security on the startup of the MVP modules?
The services for the MVP may not have the same security rights as the session you are running on the PC.

I've tried playing back both pre and post reinstall reocrdings. Neither works.

The GUI come up and I can use the plug-ins, so permissions seem right.

Are you running WinXP? Did you turn off the firewall?

You should also check to make sure that the Hauppauge servers are disabled.

They are disabled. I have the firewall on, but the Hauppauge software installed a bunch of exceptions to poke holes to let them MVP through. I used to have the firewall on when it was working before.

I agree there should be no problem with the Windows firewall. I think the problem occurs when people use other firewalls which require the creation of rules to allow the incoming traffic or think they know better try and change what GBPVR sets up.
