mvp connection problem

I just got an MVP used and I'm having some trouble getting it to work. As a test I have my pvr and the MVP hooked up to a router. Nothing else is on the net. I did not load the hauppauge software.
I changed the config to autostart one MVP server.

I power up GBPVR and then power up the MVP.
The MVP very quickly goes to loading application.
After about 60 seconds, it goes back to contacting DHCP server and then it says contacting mediaMVP server, and that's where it stays forever.

Any help appreciated.

Stupid question. When I have autostart 1 MVP server, do I need to launch the GBPVR mediamvp server? I'm assuming yes, since otherwise I don't see a second instance of GBPVR loading.

Now I need to figure out where the setting is for the screen size. It's a little big vertically.

No just stick with using the auto start option.

it kinda is a good idea to install the mvp software, to set certain things on it like 16:9 - 4:3 and sharpness etc..
then disable the services...the settings get stored in hardware mem so will stay there unless changed..

plus you get the hauppauge transcoder and some free codecs with it...
it does work without it fine tho..

the gbpvr mvp server window is just hidden, look in task manager for an extra gbpvr.exe...

both are hardwired to the router? many wireless routers won't forward the broadcast packet properly for wireless connections, so direct wired is best place to start..[firewall shouldn't even be an issue there, all on internal network]
tho it may be your software Winxp firewall...

It did eventually start working. No firewall. It was on a win2k machine to a wired router to a wired MVP. I could have sworn I didn't see a second GBPVR in taskmanager, but I must have been dreaming. When it eventually worked I had the recording service off. Seems like I might have seen a post along those lines. I just wanted to do a quick test, since I had a 5 day warranty on it and last night was the fifth day. When I get the rest of the ethernet pulled, I'll load up the Hauppauge software like you suggested.
It's so much fun being up in the attic in Texas...

Each GBPVR.exe is for each MVP you have so that's normal.. I've gone back to 98.13 and just use the bare min..

And you can't have a differnet menu structure than your main GBPVR, right? I would like to cutdown on the plugins on the MVP, but that doesn't look doable without cutting back on the normal screen.

Actually I like to have a few more plugins. I use:
Weather Plugin
Games and Gamezone plugins
VA plugin
International Cinema Listings
Shutdown
Calendar
Calculator
Search Wiz
Caller ID.

I may try to pare this down a bit, but what I was really asking was, is there any way to have an MVP with different plugins than the main gbpvr app. I'm pretty sure the answer is no since there isn't a way to configure it.

You're right the answer is no, Sub would to have add/remove list for MVP. What version of GBPVR are you using? I am testing 98.11 and HAU MediaMVP software together. So GBPVR is only use to Record and MVP software to playback very min. I then can remote into GBPVR Web guide to add more programs using a wireless laptop or another wired station desktop. This is why I'll do it for now..

I'm using 99.12 GBPVR and the dongle that comes with it. I don't have the Hauppauge software loaded.

Okay.. You only have one MVP right?

That's right, just one. I may buy another but it is a rev H. Do those work ok, or should I look for an older one?
