Allo - I've just switched over to GB-PVR instead of Media Portal. I must say it's much more stable and reliable overall. However, I've got afew issues that have popped up after getting the system as a whole up and running.

Is there a way to limit the buffer for Live TV?

While recording, GB-PVR won't change the channel through the IR blaster. There are no other problems with channel changing.

As for the last problem, I understand others have posted about it. However, nothing in those posts have seemed to help - HIP doesn't seem to help at all either. I'll be posting the log files shortly, but it would be nice if there are any other possible suggestions.

BTW I'm using GB-PVR v.0.99.12.

It doesnt use a buffer like you'd see in other similar apps. If you use live preview mode, then it doesnt create any buffer or temporary recordings. If you use timeshift mode, It'll create temporary recordings for show you're watching (or future shows if you're watching behind live) - a few minutes after you finish watching each file the recording will be deleted.

What IR Blaster are you using? Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take alook.

Sorry about the delay. Here are the log files. Thanks for a quick reply, sub!

The test recording occured between 7p and 8p in the logs. It seems that it attempted to change the station, but nothing was sent through the blaster. The exact samething happens when using HIP.

The built-in MCE blaster support isnt that good. Most people use HIP for controlling this. You can find a info about setting up HIP on the wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/HipGuide

By chance is there an alternative to HIP that you would suggest? I've been trying to get HIP to work correctly for several weeks now - it's suffering from endless memory violations and various other problems.

And the other issue is while watching Live TV (w/o timeshifting), there's a huge drain of harddrive (varies from 15 to 18 gb) from an unnamed dat file in the buffer folder I assigned. When GB-PVR closes, the file is auto deleted. I've tried to view the contents of the file, but my computer just crashes.

Maybe it's Windows being a pain - I now wish that I've done this in Linux. It's taken so much longer to get up and running (from MCE to MP to GB-PVR).

without timeshifting there shouldnt be any file created. What is the name of the file?

Are you viewing on a PC or an MVP?

I cant take credit for the time you've spent in other apps, but I dont think many people would say its quicker to get MythTV up and running... Big Grin
