I have been using GBPVR for the past couple of years, and think it is a fabulous program. (I hope it survives the Zap2it issue!).
In all that time, I have been struggling with playback issues, with the VMR9 Custom being my best option but still at what I consider 95% quality (with minor stuttering on full screen pans and during OSD). I was starting to think it was a hardware limitation! (And yes, I have the dx9.0b quartx.dll and any other tuning tweaks I could find.)
Then I tried VMR9 FSE. Big Grin I get all the eye candy of VMR, and the smooth pans of overlay. This is what I have been looking for!

However, it is not without its issues.
1. I can no longer use net radio. This is a primary function for me. It does not crash, and I can just back out of that menu and everything is fine. It just does not react, it doesn't show the connecting text at the bottom or start the music stream. Does it have something to do with the visualizations? I think sub said something about those and FSE. I don't care for those anyway, so if there is a way to eliminate them so net radio works again that would be great. I am using the standard "Blue" skin.
2. Upon exiting GBPVR, I lose the desktop completely. The GBPVR menu gets painted over the desktop so I cannot see anything, and I do not know how to force a screen refresh. Restarting the computer using the hardware power button is currently my only way to recover.

If anyone has any ideas (especially for net radio), I would really appreciate the help.

Try setting <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForNetRadio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForNetRadio> in config.xml

I've seen this myself with FSE. Unfortunately I dont have any fix for you. I've not been able to work out why it does it.

Wow sub, thanks for the quick reply!!
I am at the office right now, but I will try this when I get home.
Sorry to hear there is no easy solution to the exit and screen repaint problem, but that is less of a problem since this is a dedicated GBPVR machine. I will just stay in GBPVR forever! Smile

click on the desktop background [even tho you can't see it] and hit F5 to refresh..
you'll have to lower and raise the taskbar to repaint it tho..

pBS, thanks for the F5 tip. I was sure there was a way that I did not know about.
Also, just to close the loop, the config.xml edit suggested by sub did the trick. Thanks!

I also had this issue with VMR9 FSE, but it was fixed with the "Mediaplater=false" option, (it also gave me back the stream info too.) The issue that still remains though, is with the TV listings plugin and the Weather plugin not working at all. This only happens if I put the Live TV in to the smaller window when going back to the menu screen. If I exit the live tv all together, and go back to the main menu, it all works fine. Is this an issue that exists only with the way the plugins work with VMR9 FSE, or do I have another issue?

Oh yeah, by the way Sub, thanks for the AWESOME piece of software. GBPVR is better than many of the PVR's that need to be paid for.
