Firstly I must say how impressed I am with the software - it has all the features I always thought I would want for a PVR, and that were so lacking in the software supplied with my card. I am inspired now to get a second DVB card and maybe dedicate one of my PC's just to GB-PVR.

I read through most of the wiki about installation and configuration before I even downloaded the software. Some of it did (and does) confuse me with the mutliple choices available for decoders, renderers, demuxers etc and I can envisage it putting some people off.

When it came to actually installing the software I did get stuck at the 'Capture Sources' page - even re-reading the wiki pages it just was'nt clear exactly how to add my card and set it up, for example add the card - choose a recording source - then choose settings - choose device type etc etc - in the end I felt I did it more by trial and error! It also got errors after choosing the 'wrong' card from the list here. My card is a Nova T. On the box it says "revision 9009". In device manager it lists four '88xx' devices. The hauppage setup logs detected a 'Nova T 9003' but in the end I ticked the only show detected hardware box, and chose the 90002 Nova T.

More confusion now in how to scan channels and get EPG info. I still cannot find an option to re-scan all mux's! Having read on wiki that the only EPG useable was xmltv I found the soureforge pages about it hard to understand, and decided to try DVB EPG and was suprised to find it worked!

Anyway it probably took only 30minutes to install and get it up and running, and it is great, though I have some small problems with it that I have already posted here in hope of solution.

A big thank you to the developers of this software.

Great to hear you're well on the way to having a fully functional gbpvr box. Smile

The different decoders and renders does take a bit of getting your hear round, and I think I myself accomplished good results with trial and error and the help of the good people here Big Grin

If you think of anything that could be explained better in the wiki (it is always good to have the input of a fresh set of eyes!) drop blader_se a pm (to get access) or post it here and I'm sure someone will do the update

Thank you. I forgot to mention I ran into the problem with the DVB-EPG that is detailed in the 99.12 survivors guide, but the downloaded fix by sub worked.Smile

"Duplicate show entries in TV Guide with DVB EPG
There is a bug in the current release which causes the same show to be imported multiple times when using the DVB EPG option. A fix for this can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php...2&postcount=42

When you have this problem, viewing the tv guide you'll find you need to press the right or left arrow multiple times to move to the next show listed. This also leads to a huge amount of show listings in the database, slowing the initial viewing of the TV Guide."
