Hi sub,

I may have spoke too soon yesterday when I said everything was working great. I don't see any issues when I use the old interface (GBPVR.exe). But when I use the new interface (PVRX2.exe), I see two issues:

1. In scenes of high action (i.e., lots of movement), I see stuttering occur. I'm using the overlay renderer, BTW. It almost looks like an interlacing problem, but I think it's just stuttering. I tried running in -fse mode, but it still occurs. With GBPVR.exe, there is no stuttering.

2. The commercial skips are all off. Not sure what's happening with this one, but they are off. I thought it was a general thing, but I ran with the GBPVR.exe and the commercial skips are fine with it.

I have attached the logs after running with both executables.

Thanks,
Tiger66

I am also seeing comskip issues. I confirmed that the comskip files are correct by checking in the comskip gui as well as going back to gbpvr.exe. What looks like is happening is that in PVRX2.exe timeline display the commercial breaks are showing up aprox 2 minutes skewed to the right. The skewed breaks are being skipped when reached but they are in the wrong place. So on playing you see aprox 2 minutes of commercials and then the skip occurs and about 2 minutes of show gets skipped. Sub if you need any comskip files/ logs etc to help diagnose this then please let me know. I'll comclean files as a workaround but would be happy to run any tests you need.

According to sub, pvrx2 uses VMR9 Custom or full-screen exclusive only, regardless of whether you selected Overlay or VMR7 in config. Those settings only apply to gbpvr.exe. The stuttering is probably related to VMR9 which requires significantly more horsepower.

Gotcha. That makes sense then. Thanks for the reply. It's not bad, and I can certainly live with it. Just wasn't sure if it was an issue or not, so I wanted to report it and make certain.

If anything is needed as far as the comskip issue, I can provide whatever is needed as well. Thanks User for confirming the problem. I did notice the same behavior as you described with the timeline display as it relates to the skip.

Thanks again all (and especially sub)! Smile

I think "999" still works to ignore the comskip file, I.E. turn off commercial skipping. I need to test it but I see the timeline does change color when pressed as in ver 99.12. So as a temporary fix I think we can hit 999 on the remote and then manually skip commercials. I'll test later when the wife is done watching NASCAR. Smile

I also experienced issues with comskip. Setting comskip to generate .edl files fixed the problem with the recordings that I "re-comskipped". Additionally, I'm experiencing video tearing with PVRX2. Do you guys think that the video tearing is being caused by my integrated graphics?

Quite possibly. You could try running with the "-fse" parameter to see if it performs any better.

Thanks, that did the trick. I suppose losing windowed functionality is a fair tradeoff for the new improved interface.

comskip works fine for me on the old gui. playing the same file on the new gui puts the commercial skips about 20% forward. i compared logs from playing the same file with each interface. the only thing that jumped out at me was the difference in framerate. it should be 29.97. pvr x2 shows 25 for some reason. snips from each log below. complete files attached.

gbpvr.exe.log:

2007-07-07 22:12:08.816 VERBOSE [1] About to play file: M:\TV\American Chopper\American Chopper_20070705_23000000.mpg
2007-07-07 22:12:10.097 VERBOSE [1] Playback started: M:\TV\American Chopper\American Chopper_20070705_23000000.mpg
2007-07-07 22:12:10.097 VERBOSE [1] frameRate = 29.97

pvrx2.exe.log:

2007-07-07 22:33:37.503 VERBOSE [1] About to play file: M:\TV\American Chopper\American Chopper_20070705_23000000.mpg

Maybe. Try setting <DefaultFPS>29.97</DefaultFPS> in config.xml. This setting is only used if it cant detect it.
