Firsty, huge thanks to Sub for giving us a bit of software that's now become as useful and central to my home setup as a VCR or DVD player Smile
I've been using gbpvr for 18mths-2yrs now and have only just bothered to play with Hibernation (last leccy bill was a good prompter). I've got gbpvr to hibernate and wake up with no probs, and XP power management makes it go to sleep fine, but I was wondering about the remote I use (the Hauppauge remote that came with my PVR250 card).
Possibly a dumb question, but does the Hauppauge IR sensor that plugs into the 250 stay active when the machine is in Hibernation, and if so, is there a way to configure the power button on the remote to wake up the box from Hibernate?

Sorry, unfortunately not.

You can do this with some USB remotes though.

that would be VERY nice to have.

the way I work around it is I have a wireless RF mouse next to the sofa.
I can click the mouse and wake up the computer.
I can also use the mouse if I need to navigate in windows.
also have a wireless keyboard under the sofa just in case I need it.

How did you set up your mouse to wake from hibernate? Is the mouse USB or PS/2? When my computer hibernates, it seems like everything is turned off.

For a USB mouse (or USB Remote), I think you'll need to change your BIOS or Motherboard jumpers to continue to provide power to the USB hub (+5VSB) when in Standby (S3) or Hibernate (S1) mode. Make sure that only the USB device(s) you want to wake the computer are connected to that hub; otherwise it can have a nasty habit of hibernating and then immediately waking up again!

And from Microsoft's site...."By default, the Power Management feature of USB mouse devices is turned off. This setting is different from classic PS/2 computer functionality. Therefore, to enable the Wake from standby option, you must manually turn on the Power Management feature for the USB mouse.

To manually enable the Wake from standby option for the USB mouse, start Device Manager, right-click the USB mouse driver, click Properties, and then click to select the Allow this device to wake the system from standby check box."

I think the same applies for the eHome IR Receiver in the USB section of Device Manager (not in the HID section).

I use Standby rather than Hibernate, and it will consistently sleep and wake up i a couple of seconds by using the "Power" button on my Hauppauge MCE remote - took a bit of tweaking to get it right, but certainly possible.

Good luck!
