When I go to the guide, try to bring up the mini guide, and go to anything in recordings the MVP drops its session. My default view of recordings is what's new and if I try to go ready or pending it causes the drop of connection.

Attached are the logs.

Thanks,

Matt

Its tanking on the files with a unc for the network volumes...

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
<CheckForRenamedRecordings>false</CheckForRenamedRecordings>

are the setting in my config...

I change the unc's to a c: something and it works. Everything is the same as in the previous version as far as access rights.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

FYI using gbpvr.exe as the mvp server allows the recording listing to come up, but guide, search guide, and the mini guide still stop the session of the mvp.

PS... In order to get unc filenames to work you have to run the recording service as a user, not the system account. This way the service can "logon" to the remote computer. I have the administrator account using the same password on both computers, and the recording service running under that user.

Thanks,

Matt

To be honest, I dont know. I dont use network paths like this in my setup. I can only guess its taking too long so the MVP disconnects. The MVP expects and answer to all requests in about 7 seconds, and if it doesnt get it, then it'll disconnect.

Using network shares with an MVP can probably pushes the times pretty close to these limits (time to re-estabish connection if its gone stale etc).

I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand. If this version is supposed to not check for existance of the files if the two entries are set in the config, then why does it matter what files exist where?

The change seems to work in the new gbpvr.exe recordings listing because what used to take 2 and 1/2 minutes to bring up in the old vesion takes but 5 seconds! That's really cool! The point is that even if it took forever, it eventually did come up. It appears that the server was responding to the mvp at the required times during this.

I don't know... Just having trouble contemplating how to attach the several terabytes of recordings.

Thanks for your time... As always, great job!

matthrolf, you can try the mvpmc dongle too. It doesn't care how long it waits, although you might need to power it off if early timeouts aren't the problem.

Thanks, I will try it. However, I have confirmed that the new version still searches for the files when trying to go to the guide even with the two items set as mentioned in the config. The volumes are being slammed every time the guide is selected... This is probably the reason for the timeout and it is probably being handled differently now.... I don't know just guessing here.

Thanks,

Matt

Are you talking about the new mini-guide in PVRX2, or the old mini-guide in the 'no longer updated or maintained' GBPVR.exe?

I will talk about gbpvr.exe first because I do not have a monitor, keyboard, or mouse attached to the pvr server. The recording list no longer queries the volumes when generating the list. However, the guides (tv-guide from main menu & mini guide during playback) do query the volumes when launched.

I will attach a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the pvr server to see what is happening on the new version (pvrx2.exe). I cannot test them right now because pvrx2.exe will not run under a remote desktop environment and when I go to recordings, guide, or start the mini guide the mvp's session ends. I also will try to use the other dongle.bin as suggested and I will get you more data.

Thanks for your help,

Matt

I need to restart the recording service, and my gf will kill me if I miss this. How can I manually launch a copy of pvrx2.exe as an mvp server?

Thanks for the info,

Matt
