HVR1600 scanning

just got my hvr-1600 74021 from fedex about 3 hours ago. help!
ran the qam scan and did not get any channels in the scan. but the hauppague software picks up some sort of channels. still have yet to get a picture.

okay detecting the channels now after reading the guide. but how do i pair up the epg with qam channels?

The general idea is that after the scan, you need to click the 'tuning request' column next to each channel (one the left hand side), and select the matching channel.

It can be a little awkward with US/Canada digital cable channels since they often dont transmit the channel names or numbers, leaving you with a list of fairly generic names that dont clearly identify you channels. In this case you'll just have to struggle through it. Some others that have done it may have some tips to simplify it for you. Its easier with DVB and ATSC where the channels are more descriptively named.

it finds over 40 channels!!!
and they are all formated as 55350.1 unknown1 (000/(ac3)) and so on. it's starts detecting channels at 79 of 133 and just keeps going with .1 .2 .3 .4
it's like the entire standard cable package is here and i can't view the channel to
see what it is
