didn't recognize, that my downstairs-server has been hibernating. looking inside the logs i could figure out that myself. so that is solved. sorry.
...

i can now playback recordings from the client.
live-tv (with twinhan mantis bda-card) works on the server (and on my mediamvp).
live-tv from the client just displays a black screen for about 5 seconds and then returns to the main-menu.

only error in the logs is:
2007-07-19 22:45:40.411 VERBOSE [1] About to initialise iMON VFD
2007-07-19 22:45:40.411 VERBOSE [1] Unable to find SG_VFD.dll

seems to be something about access to a remote-control? (no remote-control sw is installed on my client pc)

full logs attached.

When you try, it generates a message like this in your logs:

2007-07-19 22:45:40.412 VERBOSE [1] Translated server path \\Pc-bobs\media\Dat-LiveTV\Adam & Eva_1_20070719_22400000.mpg into client path \\Pc-bobs\media\Dat-LiveTV\Adam & Eva_1_20070719_22400000.mpg

Can you confirm that file exists at that path? It'l be deleted a few minutes after the attempt, so you'll need to have a fresh attempt, and look for the filename in the logs.

You can ignore this warning, its about display messages on an LCD or VFD display, but none is detected, so it is disabled.

So does this mean that the new interface has native support for the Imon VFD displays? How does this work / hwo do you config it?

Thanks

In theory yes, but unfortunately it's not working at the moment, and I havnt managed to find the time to investigate why. It was working during some of the pre-release testing.

That's good, in a release or two I might be able to get rid of my cobbled (sticky taped?) together LCDsmartie solution.

I could never get the GB / smartie plugin working.

the file is created in the specified server-directory, and it can be played with mediaplayer.
when i'm starting the tv using tv guide, it sometimes behaves the same (stop recording and going back to tv guide after ~5sec).
sometimes it continues recording with only a black screen and the osd showing. osd is not updated though.

You need to check the path is exactly right though, so I suggest cut & paste from the log, and then press Windows-R and run the file (which will run in WMP).
