Am trying to get the 1.0.08 PVRX2 to run on my machine.

The GBPVR.exe works fine but when I try to run the new version exe I get black screens and apparent crashes when going anywhere near video.

Is PVRX2 compatible with ffdShow?

Ouch - no ffdshow????

Will overlay mode and ffdshow be added to PVRX2 in due course? The picture quality using these is exceptionally good. It would be a shame to have to lower picture quality to use the new version of GBPVR.

FFDSHOW works with PVRX2.exe when playing non MPEG2 video as far as I can tell.
I use it as my mpeg4 decoder.

I don't remember trying it with MPEG2 because the system is older & I knew from past testing it couldn't use post processing even with overlay.

I'm not aware of anything that makes ffdshow incompatible with PVRX2. Its not something I test though.

I think there has a been a couple of reports from people having problems with it, but this was the same GBPVR.exe in the past, which often had people having problems with ffdshow.

The overlay renderer will not be added to PVRX2 interface. It is incompatible with the new Direct3D based user interface.

What about those of us who can only use overlay? I have upgraded my CPU to 2.2 GHz and I am still not able to get quality playback with any vmr setting. I mostly watch HD recordings and movies. The issue was mostly quality, but also aspect ratio problems. I have automatic AR set, and everything plays perfect as long as I use overlay, including AVI, MKV and other files types.

I sure hope that you will keep the old interface alive as you continue making improvements to GBPVR. I personally care most about the quality of watching the actual TV material, since this is where most of my, and my family's time is spent. Everything else is secondary. Thank you.

Would it be possible for the VMR renderer to be used when GBPVR is displaying the animated menus etc but overlay to be used when full screen video is being watched? Perhaps this would make the software moe difficult to write????

I can get VMR to work but the picture looks soft compared with overlay - though many tweaks might be able to fix that. It seems some folk cant get VMR to work for video.

No, this would not be possible. Direct3D is used for the OSD etc, and cant be mixed with the video when using the Overlay render. It also would not be possible to display the video inset window etc, since this requires the ability to mix video and graphics in the same window.

Sorry, I know it doesnt suit everyone, but thats the price of progress. If you want to continue using newer versions of GB-PVR, then sometime in the near future you'll need to look into getting a setup that can handle VMR9/Direct3D well. You can also stick with an older verison if you need to.

The old interface is no longer maintained and will not be updated, but I will continue to include it in the distribution for a while to give people a chance to migrate in their own time, rather than forcing them to do it now.

I do not think it is a performance issue only, when I use vmr9, the cpu never maxes out, but I see glitches in HD playback all the time. Not the case in Overlay.
