Hi

I upgraded to 1.00.08 last week and this behaviour started. When SUB released 1.00.16 I upgraded right away (and am currently running this release).

When I schedule a recording and decide to watch it after a while partly becuse we had not finished dinner by the time the show started and partly because we do not like to watch the commercials (I have comskip running in parallell so it skips commercials perfectly). It works just fine up until the recording finishes. The MVP then disconnects and the current viewing position of the fiel is NOT saved ot the database. When the MVP re-establishes the contact I can start watching again but I have to skip to about the position we were at. No problem there but my wife is not too impressed...

My setup:
Server:
P4 Dual Core 2.5 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM and a 320 GB dedicated recording SATA-1 drive.
Windows 2003 Server
Two Hauppauge PVR-150 TV-cards
GBVPR: 1.00.16 (no patches)
The only plugin I currently have installed is the Weather Plugin.

The MVP is a Wireless device but is Wired to the same switch as the server (built into my ADSL modem/wireless router). Running the default dongle.bin from 1.00.16 release.

The only log entrys I have to show you is from the recording service showing that everything is working fine (the MVP-PVRX2.exe.log had already rolled over so no info to find there unfortunatly):

Code:

I tried t oreproduce the problem this morning but of course it did not occur. It has occured twice since the upgrade to 1.0. Could perhaps be due to a little under-spec computer perhaps.

I will save the log-files (is it MVP-PVRX2 that is most interesting?) the next time it happens.

It happened again (at about 20:06 CET) and I have zipped the logs and attach them here:

I do not want to be pushy, but I wonder if you have seen that I uploaded some logfiles from the last time this happened. It does not happen every time but has happened 6-8 times all-in-all.

Ooops. Just saw you have gone on holiday, no hurry with this problem. Nothing disappears, it's just the MVP that gets disconnected and then reconnects. We can live with this for the time beeing (at least I can ;-) ). Have a nice holiday.

BUMP...

Now that you have rested a bit from GBPVR I wonder if you would like to take alook at my logs SUB ;-)

It happens every now and again. Could it be that my hardware is a bit low (2.4 GHz P4 with 1,5 GB Memory and 1x20 GB System ATA, 1x 160 GB ATA disk for Programs, 1x250 HW RAID-1 SATA disk, 1x 320 GB SATA recording drive.

I have one thing, I run an Exchange server on the same machine but I think I will uninstall it as soon as I can find the time. This can probably be a hassle, it has not been a problem before but perhaps with PVRX2 it is a bit much to do for the machine.

I know Sub is on holiday, and I am not in a hurry. Just wanted to bump the thread so it do not disappear when he has returned.

And the comment of under-spec was due to the fact that I run the same machine with Windows 2003 Server with Exchange 2003. That might be a bit much considering it is PATA and SATA-1 drives (i.e. no Command Queing on disk traffic) and not SCSI/SAS which would be preferred.

Can you have another go at posting the logs? This time even post the backup sets - your recording service log had rolled over, so I couldnt see the details at startup for the recording service.

I'm also running 2003 server with a mailserver and ftp server, don't know how much cpu power and disk traffic your exchange is demanding, but I never had any problems with my old AMD XP2400+ cpu. recording only takes about 3% of the CPU power, can watch a Divx, and mailserver cueing constantly at the same time. Guess its not as resource demanding as an exchange server.
Oh well, lets see what sub has to say about the logs.
