i used zap2it because it was free and worked great on the old version. But now on this new version it doesn't seeem to be working. I dont want to have to pay every 3 months to get a subscritption for the tv lineup, thats why i'm didn't go with a tivo. Anyway to get the zap2it to work again?

Please Help

No. Zap2It shut down operation on Sept 1. That is why the new pay service exists. There are other free options available but they are not as simple to use as the Schedules direct lineup. Check the EPG section of the wiki.

ok i am frustrated and angry and decided to ask for help. I am finally upgrading to a different EPG service. I have tried the yahoo epg thing with zero luck (possibly my own doings on that though)

then i thought i would try the schedules direct. I have it all set up for a trail account with my line up. however when i try to update the epg i get an error. I applied the patch that it said to in the wiki. Now i do apologize for the screen shot of the error. I'm frustrated and cant get it to just cut out the little portion i need in windows paint. its also a dual screen so just ignore the right side and i hope you can read the error. Figuring out how to cut and paste is something i will try after this but right now i just want this to work.

There have been some issues with invalid data which is what you seem to be experiencing. Add your voice to this thread: http://forums.schedulesdirect.org/viewto...?f=6&t=291

I found the way they've done it very rude.

No warning at all, no email. Nothing. Just have cut, shut down the website (labs.zap2it.com).

By the way where's their pay service?

Bye!
Syl!

I'd have preferred zap2it to stay around also, but to be fair, they did publicize it on the front page of their website for two months or so before the server was switched off, and plenty of discussion on their forums about it. There was also discssion on sites like this since early July talking about alternatives etc.

Some of the guys from MythTV and XMLTV have formed a non-profit organisation to license and resell zap2it listings for use in various apps. You can find out more about that service at www.schedulesdirect.org.

To ensure they can meet the high costs of licensing the data from TMS (zap2it), they're currently charging $15 for three months, though they hope to reduce this to around $20 per year once they have enough members. They've already passed the break even point for the current $5 per month, so there will definitely be a price reduction at the end of that three month period. The more people that sign on, the cheaper it'll be, so I'm encouraging people to support them for the sake of all NA users.
