Vista clock (not gbpvr but)

the clock on my vista laptop(less than 6months old) keeps losing time even the date ends up wrong
yesterday it said it was 2005 then i corrected it and today i get up and it says its yesterday still and it 12 am when it was 8am

i know it has nothing to do with gbpvr but thought someone else may have the answer

Try changing the default internet time server. time-a.nist.gov works for me.

yeah it was an update dunno which one yet un installed the last three one was to do with changes in daylight savings
the time-a.nist.gov would work on my xp machine but not on vista now it works on both

ok heres another bit of info
the clock actually stops when you shut the lid (standby)
so if i shut the lid at 8:40
then open it again 10 minutes later it still shows 8:40

This sounds more like either a problem with your hardware or bios power management setting being too aggressive. I sleep my Vista machine several times a time and I don't have to resync time with a time server outside the normal schedule.

yeah im thinking bios (cmos battery)never had this problem before so was stumped
when you into the bios the clock isnt counting very strange may have been like it from the beginning(new) just that after a windows update the time sync stopped working and now ive noticed as i said the laptop is only 6months old
